It's time for HOT SOUP! Time Out NY called it "one of the best weekly shows in the city" and Thrillist said it's "one of the best underground comedy shows in NYC." Produced by some of the top comics in town (Gary Vider, Mark Normand, and Matt Ruby) and an ace booker (Jeremy Levenbach), it's one of the longest running independently produced comedy shows in NYC. And you never know who might drop in – previous surprise guests include Jim Gaffigan, Hannibal Buress, Sarah Silverman, Aziz Ansari, and Anthony Jeselnik. For this special NY Comedy Festival edition of the show, expect to see an incredible lineup!
Dan Soder is a New York City based comedian who’s best known as ‘Mafee’ on the hit Showtime Billions series. He has a new Half Hour Special on Netflix’s “The Standups”. His first hour-long stand-up special, Not Special premiered last year on Comedy Central. Other credits include: Comedy Central’s Half Hour, Conan, Inside Amy Schumer, and @midnight. Dan also hosts Sirius XM’s The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson, Monday – Thursday at 6pm ET.
Jo Firestone is a comedian based in Brooklyn. Her work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Chris Gethard Show, and heard on Earwolf and WFMU. Her half hour special aired on Comedy Central this year, and her album will be available on Comedy Central Records this winter.
Emmy Blotnick is a Brooklyn-based comedian who was recently named head writer for The President Show on Comedy Central. She has been included on Comedy Central's list of Comics to Watch.
Kate Willett is a comedian, actress, and writer whose raunchy feminist storytelling is both smart and relatable. Her 15 minute special will premiere on Netflix later this year. She was recently a correspondent for the JIM JEFFERIES SHOW at Politicon 2017. She’s been featured on Viceland’s FLOPHOUSE and her appearance on Comedy Central’s THIS IS NOT HAPPENING was on Splitsider’s list of “2016’s Best Late Night Standup Sets.” In the past, she toured with Margaret Cho nationally and internationally and has featured with comedians like Kyle Kinane, Jen Kirkman, Ali Wong, Dana Gould, and Greg Behrendt. She has appeared in the Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, Limestone Comedy Festival, High Plains, Big Sky Festival, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest (5 years in a row), and most recently Laughing Skull. Earlier this year she was a “Comic to Watch” at the LA RIOT festival. Her comedy album “Glass Gutter” was released in 2017.
Matt Ruby is a standup comedian from New York City and his debut album is called "Hot Flashes." His jokes offer a smart and brutally honest look at relationships, politics, race, religion, technology, and sex. Matt is also the star and creator of Vooza, a video comic strip about the tech world (called the "The Spinal Tap of startups" by Mashable), and producer of two of the hottest live comedy shows in New York City (Hot Soup and Schtick or Treat). Other credits include MTV's Girl Code, Seeso/NBC, CNN.com, The Huffington Post, NY Magazine, Time Out NY ("Joke of the Year" nominee), Splitsider, and Gawker. He has also appeared across the country at comedy venues and festivals including SXSW (Austin), Bridgetown (Portland), NY Comedy Contest, SF Comedy Contest, Boston Comedy Festival, Biftek Festival (Montreal) and the New Orleans Comedy and Arts Festival. His comedy blog, Sandpaper Suit, was nominated for Best Comedy Website by The ECNY awards. Look, you made it to the end of this bio. Nice job! Now lets go out there and live our best lives.
