Margie Carmichael is a PEI musician, songwriter, author, playwright and storyteller who comes from a long line and a large family of entertainers. She has recorded and performed with many of PEI’s finest musicians. Other artists have recorded her songs and stories, and take them on their travels. She plays guitar, piano and mandolin.
Perhaps Margie is best known to Island audiences for her anthem-like ‘Red Dirt Road’, which is featured in “Stories from the Red Dirt Road”, a new musical from The Confederation Centre of the Arts which debuted this summer at the Mack. Margie’s book “Stories from the Quilt”, was adapted for stage by Marlane O’Brien, and features more original songs.
Blaine Hrabi will join Margie for songs and tunes for part of the evening. Blaine has been singing since he was a teen and has developed an extensive traditional and folk song repertoire. He’s an accomplished multi-instrumentalist on concertina, accordion, mandolin and guitar. He and Margie are long time friends and music buddies, and get together for tunes and songs whenever they can.
