TEDxBuffalo ‘New Directions’ Presenters

DR. INES STUCKERT : Hailing from Venezuela, Stuckert took part in the highly profiled government protests there. Now, as a US resident and activist, she sees similarities in the political protest climates in both countries. She's well-versed in organizing protests, but... does protesting even work, she wonders? What is the solution, if not?

PHILIP ODONKOR : An engineer and PhD candidate, Odonkor will explore how our houses are learning to change themselves to be more efficient. He studies artificial intelligence and its uses in smart homes. How exactly are our homes becoming more self sufficient entities? What does this mean for our future?

JULIE PALMER : Palmer is the director of PATH, a non profit that aids those affected by human trafficking. It is a problem that is worldwide, but still very present in Western New York. What are the signs of human trafficking? How can we help rehabilitate and support those who have been harmed by it?

JUDGE CRAIG HANNAH : Judge Hannah is a revolutionary Buffalo Justice, featured in The Guardian, BBC, and The New York Times. His empathetic approach to the legal ramifications facing drug addicts has been praised the country over. His focus is simply to keep users alive. Local reporter Pete Gallivan will sit down for an interview with Judge Hannah to learn more about how he overcame his own addiction, became a judge, and is now seeking to help those caught in the opioid crisis.

MICHAEL SCRIPT : Script is a third generation inventor who has ten patents to his name. Inventing in several fields, he is CEO of vClick3d and Cofounder of In2Capital. Script will talk about what it means to be an inventor in the twenty-first century and how inventing differs from innovating.

ANNIE BRADY : Annie Brady is a singer, blogger, and blind woman. Through her triumphs and struggles, Brady has embraced her blindness and learned to love herself, blindness and all. Without blindness, would she still be Annie? Brady will explore some of the hardships facing the blind community and why in today’s society and historically, blind people have been some of the most savvy, useful people in the job market and the world.
