A Darker Bright

Nature Docs

Like a cool canyon jaunt or a buggy roll in the hay, the music of Nature Docs is fragrant, unfiltered and intimate. Sprung branches and sticky feelings. The trio uses no loops or backing tracks, only tightly woven arrangements telling personal stories over slinky rhythms. Like a jankier-but-woke Steely Dan, never to be as pretty as the Beach Boys or as stanky as Dilla, but running down that fresh tangled path anyhow. Come joggin'

Blythe Spirit's aim is to stoke the proverbial fire and remind everyone that it's actually cool to care and be kind. All the while never forgetting to stay wild, chase inspiration, and be freely ourselves. The trio consisting of Bob Powell (percussion/vocals), Danny Preciado (bass/guitars/percussion), and Bryan Smith (vocals/guitars/keys) formed in a turbulent fall of 2017. Bryan and Bob met by chance smoking outside the Satellite one Saturday night attending Dance Yourself Clean, realized they had a lot of musical interests in common and decided a jam was in order. The first one was magic. So the next time Bob brought his friend Danny along too. They played till they ran out of material, going through every original idea and cover they could remember and finally calling it a night around 2:30 on a school night. They spent the rest of 2017 woodshedding and writing and finally played their first gig, a party with just friends on New Year's Eve eve.
In 2018 they have continued to charge hard: playing a smattering of gigs and writing new material, and of course, more woodshedding. This summer they tracked their debut EP which they are finishing for an October release. They've also written it's follow up, which they are set to begin recording this fall and are currently working on songs for a full length album with the aim of a summer 2019 release. Stay tuned... Blythe Spirit's just warming up.
