Guest Event: Off-Off-Off-Broadway: A Comedy Musical

Musical Comedy is a safe space for American Idol rejects, those who consider "showtunes" to be a musical genre, and fans of Mamma Mia 2. Through an unbeatable combination of original, comedic lyrics and stand-up, hosts Christi Chiello (Comedy Central, Just For Laughs) & Kelsey Caine (NY Times), alongside producer Jamie Rabinovitch (Casual Town, All Kidding Aside) welcome some of the most angelic and hypnotic voices to the stage, serving you an unforgettable night of musical comedy! Performers of Off Off Off Broadway include Friends Who Folk (The New Yorker), Larry Owens (TruTV, feature film “To Dust”), Reformed Whores (2 Dope Queens, Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Dewayne Perkins (Netflix's The Break with Michelle Wolf), Ayo Edebiri (The Rundown with Robin Thede on BET), and Community Dance Corps (Comedy’s favorite dance team).

Christi Chiello is a Comedian, Actress and Voice Over Artist based in NYC. She made her Comedy Central debut on Jeff Ross's Roast Battle, opposite legend Jimmy Carr. She was named a 'New Face of Comedy' at the International Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in 2017. Christi's appeared on TruTV's Late Night Snack, IFC's Comedy Crib and MTV's GirlCode. She co-hosts Battle of the Divas with Matteo Lane (Time Out NY's pick for 'Best of the NY Comedy Festival') and White Chocolate with Petey DeAbreu. Her one woman show "It's Christi, B*tch!" premiered in November at Ars Nova and is hailed as a "must see comedy event" by Time Out New York. You can hear Christi as Baby Saffron in Pinkalicious and Peterrific on PBS Kids and see her in national television commercials for IKEA. www.christichiello.com/

Kelsey Caine is a New York comedian originally from Austin, Texas. Her family describes her comedy as, “Stop telling jokes about us. It hurts your brother’s feelings.” She has appeared on the Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival, was a state finalist in the 2017 Miss New York USA beauty pageant, and is a contributing writer for The New York Times.

Friends Who Folk are comedy folk group featuring Ned Riseley and Rachel Wenitsky. They have performed all over New York City including Ars Nova, Union Hall, UCB, and The Slipper Room. Their work can be found in Glamour, Splitsider, Paste, and The New Yorker.

Reformed Whores are Southern bred, but NYC based Katy Frame & Marie Cecile Anderson have performed all over New York City, and have made their international debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They have been featured on IFC, PBS, CBC, Sirius XM, Gotham Comedy Live on AXS TV, WNYC’s 2 Dope Queens Podcast, Dan Savage's Hot Mic on Audible.com, The Huffington Post, Splitsider, The Washington Post, BUST Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Nerve.com, and Glamour Magazine.

Ayo Edebiri is a writer and performer, whose work has been featured in The New Yorker, Splitsider, and The Rundown with Robin Thede on BET.

The Community Dance Corps (CDC) is an all-female dance team comprised of some of New York’s most talented comedians and actresses. We create weird (but cool!) dance routines and have fun practicing them. CDC dances are quirky, punchy, and sometimes gorgeous. You’ve been warned!

Dewayne Perkins is a writer, comedian, and dancer who was recently named Breakout LGBTQ+ Comics to Watch by Timeout Magazine. He's a writer for The Break with Michelle Wolf on Netflix, and recently wrote for the 2018 White House Correspondents Dinner.

Jamie Rabinovitch produces weekly show Casual Town, and all-female bi-monthly show All Kidding Aside. She has produced shows at Carolines on Broadway, House of Wax, and The Delancey. Her shows have been featured in The New York Times, Timeout Magazine, and Best Kept MTL.
