Father Murphy is the sound of the Catholic sense of Guilt. A downward spiral aiming at the bottom of the hollow, and then digging even deeper. Through the years the band became one of the most peculiar musical entities coming out of Italy, part of that community that Simon Reynolds started to call the new “Italian Occult Psychedelia”.
Their final album titled “Rising. A reqiuem for Father Murphy” was released April 2018 by Avant! Records and Ramp Local. With Rising, the legend of Father Murphy reaches its culmination. Composed in the classical requiem format, it brings an end to the recounts of the journey of the fictional character Father Murphy and subsequently to the band itself.
This Italian group are a cult band in every sense of the word. - THE QUIETUS They make music that's fantastically fucked up... - EXCLAIM! An outsider operatic hellscape that calls to mind the starkest visions of Cormac McCarthy. - THE GUARDIAN Italian Father Murphy conjure up a funereal atmosphere somewhere between homemade Morricone and toytown Goblin... That ol' devil Dario would surely approve – THE WIRE Impressive but nightmarish, like a beautifully rendered self-portrait splattered with blood and self-loathing. - ROCK-A-ROLLA Like punks who secretly learned classical. - SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY
ARIADNE is an experimental sacred music and new media art duo whose work explores the intersection of mysticism, dream analysis and the failure of digital systems through a synthesis of music performance, digital and interactive art, poetry and dramatic experience. With a focus on interspersing the ritualism of ancient spirituality and the secular iconography of the postmodern, ARIADNE flawlessly bridge the two worlds through their intricate musical compositions, striking digital visuals, and captivating live performances.
King Vision Ultra
Brooklyn-based duo creating dark, distorted music. Wrought with layers of shoegaze worthy reverb and distortion the songs make you feel as if walking through a storm of sound and yet the band balances it all out with melodic synth lines and sullenly sweet vocals. A definite hit for those who like their music with a touch of bleak.
