In the late summer of 2009, four estranged San Diego natives reunited in the name of metal for a series of jam sessions that would later spawn the progressive death metal project Eukaryst. After a grueling half year of rehearsal and song writing, Bel (guitar), Chase (guitar), Gino (bass) and Dan (drums) decided it was time to begin playing live shows despite the lack of a lead vocalist. Throughout 2010, Eukaryst played several local shows as an instrumental outfit, immediately catching the attention of local metal fans and musicians alike and establishing themselves as an unique voice among the diverse San Diego metal landscape. Nearing the close of 2010, the foursome recorded a three song demo which would later spark the interest of Dark Ale vocalist Ben Marotta. Ben would officially join the band in early 2011 and the newly formed five-piece would begin to unleash their brand of uncompromising melodic metal upon the San Diego circuit. Playing live shows with national touring acts such as Warbringer, Bonded by Blood, Holy Grail, and the Iron Maidens, Eukaryst have showcased their technical ability and musical prowess throughout the past two years, earning them respect among SD locals.
With the upcoming release of their self-produced first album, Eukaryst aim to re-enter the gigging scene with renewed determination and expand outward.
