Spare Parts For Broken Hearts
Spare Parts for Broken Hearts is a melodic, 3 piece, Alternative/Grunge band fronted by vocalist/guitar player, Sarah Green (SG).
In 2010, SG returned to Los Angeles from a summer touring with the Van's Warped tour and founded SP/BH in a downtown rehearsal space. They are expected to release new music, fall of 2018.
Ever So Android
Ever So Android is based on the timeless synergy between it's principal members, multi-instrumentalist/programmer Drew M and vocalist Hope.
Hope's vocals are an opulent blend of soul, blues and punk; an unexpected combination that produces a hypnotic result. Drew's soundscapes are confident and lush: chunky, dynamic guitars and synths sawing away under lean, fierce, electronic beats.
Their cohesive style is expansive enough to include throttling anthems, dystopian dance epics, and full-on electro-punk bashers.
Iress (formerly Iris) makes the kind of music that submerges you into another world. Heavy. Dark. Electric. Doom-gaze guitars are layered over ethereal vocals that metamorphose into anguished screams, and are accented by cinematic drums and dancing bass lines.
Formed in 2010 on the outskirts of LA, Iress has slowly built itself into a commanding machine of sound, steadily gaining steam and momentum. Their powerful live performances and raw talent have caught on like wildfire, with their heavy, melancholic sound and cathedral-like vocals drawing comparisons to bands such as True Widow, King Woman, Chelsea Wolfe, and Emma Ruth Rundle.
The release of their EP Prey at the end of 2015 forged a new chapter in Iress’ story. The band spent most of last year opening for high-caliber bands such as Sunflower Bean, Chon, and Summer Twins, and performing at festivals, including Echo Park Rising. They were named as a band-not-to-be-missed by the LA Times.
This year, Iress will be releasing their second EP, Soaked, via PLAG Records. This EP sees the band delving even further into the haunting, massive sounds that they explored in their earlier material.
With DoLA naming them one of LA’s Bands to Watch for 2017, and plans for a West Coast tour in the works, Iress is a band you will not want to miss.
From San Fran to LA, Act Natural is testing out the waters of this vibrant place.
Kofi (Mike Blair) is a music producer who has recently picked up guitar. He and Annabelle toggle between lead and harmony with vocals. He may also surprise you with a pocket piano or many of the other tricks up his sleeve.
Annabelle is primarily a mandolin player and vocalist, though she also plays violin (her first instrument) and tickles the guitar.
They do not have much recorded just yet, so keep your ears peeled for what's in store.
Founded by singer Tara Jane, Los Angeles femme-fronted Blood Candy incorporates dreamy sanguine vocals over noisy reverb-drenched guitars with tempo changes and haunting melodies that form a wall of sound a la Black Tambourine, The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine.
Their album entitled, "Dead Moon" was released by Buddyhead Records in August of 2015. The Deli Mag, called it a "blend of fuzz and reverb that mingles like lovers' sweat and cigarette smoke —" They have worked with producer Joe Cardamone of the Icarus Line, graced LA's Part Time Punks and were named one of the, "13 Los Angeles Artists and Bands to Watch" by Grimy Goods. Their modern take on 90's shoegaze is best described as a soundtrack for heartbroken slow dancing and drug-fueled make out sessions.
