FACIAL RECOGNITION COMEDY IN HOUSTON!

Fri. 9/21 | Show 10:00 PM | Doors 9:30 PM | $8 ADV | $12 DAY OF

Facial Recognition Comedy is a stand-up show composed of female-identifying performers of South Asian descent. Our goal is to dispel the Hollywood myth that “there can only be one” type of minority entertainer per project, as well as showcase the diversity within our demographic. Produced by comics Fizaa Dosani, Zahra Ali, and Pallavi Gunalan, this show was created to let everyone know that we are not the same person.

Fizaa Dosani

Fizaa is a stand-up comic, actor, and writer whose credits include FX, Netflix, ABC, GSN, Youtube Premium, and CBS Diversity. She was born and raised in Florida, but eventually escaped. As a comedian, she gives audiences access to her eccentricities and a unique, outside-of-the-box perspective that is her own. She is a producer of Facial Recognition Comedy, as well as a host of the podcast with the same name. Fizaa is also a producer of Blunt Force Comedy, a long-running stand-up showcase in LA.

Zahra Ali

Zahra is a bicoastal comedian, writer, and actress who performs stand-up all over the country. She’s also the coolest chick you’ll ever meet. Her arsenal of jokes tackle everything from tacos to terrorism, often leaving the crowd more enlightened. She writes and acts with the sketch comedy group No Fly List at the Comedy Central Stage in Hollywood. Zahra also co-hosts the 2 Girls, 1 Guy podcast at the World Famous Comedy Store and the Facial Recognition Comedy podcast. She is a producer of two popular LA-based shows, Facial Recognition Comedy and Keep It Professional Comedy.

Pallavi Gunalan

Pallavi performs stand-up comedy all over the US and India. She has participated in many comedy festivals, including SF Sketchfest, the Portland Queer Comedy Festival, and Zee TV’s Desi Comedy Fest. Additionally, Pallavi has appeared on the Kill Tony Podcast. She co-produces the LA-based show Oversharing Comedy. As a co-producer of Facial Recognition Comedy, she was highlighted in Splitsider. Pallavi also co-hosts the Facial Recognition Comedy Podcast on the Comedy Pop-Up network. In Spring 2018, she became a recipient of the coveted Upright Citizens Brigade Diversity Scholarship.

Zahid Dewji

Zahid Dewji is a stand-up comic of East African/Indian descent currently residing in Houston, Texas. Zahid has featured at the Houston Improv, Addison Improv & Joke Joint Comedy Showcase and is an active performer with The Secret Group & Beta Theater through which he hosts "The Triple Header" monthly stand-up showcase. In addition, Zahid has been on Hell Yes! Fest, Come and Take It Comedy Festival, & Houston Whatever Fest and has shared the stage with great comics like Myq Kaplan, Eric Andre, & Tom Segura. Free Press Houston has described his performances as “heavier in laughs than many comics with ten times his experience” and featured the comedian in their ‘Best of 2015’ edition.

Jaffer Khan

One of Houston's top comedians, Jaffer has performed on Come and Take It Comedy Fest, Limestone Comedy Fest and is scheduled to appear on the prestigious Laughing Skull Comedy Fest this spring.
