Tender Mercy, Gregg Garvey, Spud Bugs
450 Main Street
Los Angeles, CA, 90013
This event is 21 and over
When Louisville, KY singer/songwriter Mark Kramer performs as Tender Mercy, he is about as exposed as a performer can be. Formed as an outlet for solo performance after years playing bass in punk bands throughout the Midwest, the project’s goal is to present Kramer’s songwriting in as minimalist a form as possible; To see him play live is like being transported into a personal meditation, somehow solemn and breathtaking at the same moment.
Tender Mercy’s debut full length, LEAVE LITTLE ROOM, builds upon the work of past EPs to capture the shock and beauty of Kramer’s live performances perfectly. Without overdubs, percussion or excessive tampering, these ten recordings perfectly capture the ambiance and mood of each song, honoring the use of melodic space that sets Kramer apart from peers such as Low, Sun Kil Moon and Grouper.
Tender Mercy has opened for the likes of Advance Base, DIVORCE, Bro. Stephen, Simon Joyner, Jeffery Lewis, Wooden Wand, Fugitive, Twin Limb and Cross Record. LEAVE LITTLE ROOM is available on tape and digital formats March 6, 2018 via Obsolete Media Objects.
Gregg Garvey is a singer and songwriter from Minnesota. Influenced by artists such as David Sylvian and ‘60s-era Scott Walker, Gregg’s work infuses darkly romantic folk-rock with psychedelia, baroque-pop, and Americana.
After honing his musical style with Minneapolis garage rock band The Brutes, Gregg took the leap west to Los Angeles as a solo artist. Landing in Echo Park, where indie label Lolipop Records was headquartered, he was invited to have a tape released on the label. Entitled This World Is Mind, the work is an eclectic mix of dreamy meditative pop and vintage rock soul.
a band of overgrown kids that gathered from all over the united states to play acoustic punk out of a van called the Aluminum Falcon for strangers they'll probably never meet again. it's the ones who stop and listen that keep us going. With a sound ranging from hard and fast, to rap infused, Spanglish, and slow melodic noise, pushing the punk genre to its limits.
