Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 British silent film THE LODGER with a live score by MORRICONE YOUTH!

Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 British silent film THE LODGER with a live score by MORRICONE YOUTH!

A Jack-the-Ripper type serial killer called “The Avenger” is terrorizing London by targeting young blond women. How Hitchcockian! At the same time of these attacks, a mysterious man takes a room at the a family-owned boarding house and strikes up a relationship with the proprietor’s pretty blonde daughter. To thicken the plot, she’s engaged to a policeman hot on the trail of “The Avenger” who thinks her Lodger lover is the murderer! Even though it was his third feature film, Hitchcock clearly had been paying close attention to his contemporaries F.W. Murnau and Fritz Lang incorporating ominous camera angles and claustrophobic lighting. The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog is considered the “first true Hitchcock film” and is, obviously, a thrilling way to kick start your Halloween weekend.

Morricone Youth is a New York City band formed in 1999 dedicated to performing and recording "music written for the moving image" (old film and television soundtrack and library production music). THE LODGER: A STORY OF THE LONDON FOG (Alfred Hitchcock's 1927 classic silent film) is part of an ongoing series of live re-score vinyl and digital releases by the band and Country Club Records (distributed by Light In The Attic). THE LODGER will be the sixth LP due in early January 2019 of a series of original and re-interpreted live scores that the band has written original music for and performed over the past seven years (the first five releases being “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD” (2016), “THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED” (2016), “MAD MAX” (2017), "SUNRISE: A SONG OF TWO HUMANS" (2017) and DANGER DIABOLIK (2018). Copies of the first five releases on limited edition vinyl will be available at the screening. Go to morriconeyouth.com for more info.
