Stanton Warriors (Punks, UK)
Since bursting onto the scene with their multi award-winning compilation “The Stanton Sessions” back in 2001, the Stanton Warriors’ irresistible and inimitable sound has consistently remained the soundtrack to some of the world’s biggest and best parties over the past thirteen years; from East London warehouses, Miami boat parties and illegal Detroit raves, to the stages of Coachella, Glastonbury, Burning Man and Ultra, selling out global tours and topping DJ lists along the way.
In the studio, Bristol’s Mark Yardley and Dominic Butler have honed a trademark, uncategorisable sound that is at once all their own, but also utterly indefinable, leading to high-profile releases on XL Records, Fabric, Cheap Thrills, Central Station and Universal, alongside official remixes for everyone from Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim, to MIA and Gorillaz. This phenomenal output and remarkable longevity has ensured the Stanton Warriors legendary status amongst not only their fans, but also their peers, as they remain fresh, original and relevant; obstinately dancing to beat of their own drum and helping to pave the way for new talent.
In 2014 alone, the Stanton Warriors topped the Beatport charts (again), inspired Disclosure’s Grammy-nominated album Settle, got Annie Mac dancing on her living room carpet, opened London’s 3k capacity Building Six club, saw their podcast shoot to No. 3 in the iTunes chart and smashed the stages of Ultra, Supersonic and Glastonbury.
In 2015, Stanton Warriors typically show no sign of slowing down with a brand new album featuring a host of new exciting bass artists such as Cause & Affect (aka Chris Lorenzo & Kane), sold-out tours across the USA, Europe, Australia and the Far East, collaborations on Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and a slew of exciting releases on their own tastemaker label Punks.
Ruede Hagelstein (Watergate, Berlin)
Ruede Hagelstein is a German producer, singer, songwriter, and DJ. He was raised in the suburbs of Berlin and later moved to the capital at the age of 20. He sang in a choir, tortured his guitar, and dreamed of having a rock star career. Instead, he started his DJ career in the late-nineties at the renowned Berlin club Tresor.
While his DJing career progressed, Ruede was also an editor for various nightlife and music magazines: Groove Magazin, FLYER Magazin, PRINZ Magazin. His time spent as an editor brought him closer to the heart of the dance music scene, which led him to co-found restrealitaet.de - a Berlin-based web platform covering the local underground Techno scene. In 2006, Ruede earned an Audio Engineer Degree at the SAE Institute and became a resident DJ at Watergate, one of Berlin's most popular clubs.
The first tracks Ruede produced got signed by big labels such as Kitsune, Eskimo, and Cocoon. Soon, Ruede found himself co-producing with other major artists, composing music for commercials, and scoring “The Wyld,” one of Europe's biggest musical productions. He now has numerous releases that are housed on labels like Watergate Records, Upon You, and Souvenir. He is also widely known for his remixing skills, which have been requested by powerhouse record labels like Get Physical Music (Germany), Bedrock (UK), Culprit (US), Suara (Spain). Parallel to his electronic music career, Ruede has formed an indie-electronica band called “Ruede Hagelstein & The Noblettes” and founded his own mixing studio in Berlin, where he works with diverse artists like the Adana Twins, Move D, Tiefschwarz, and many more...
Syd Gris (Opel / Opulent Temple)
Syd is one of the longest running fun creators in the Bay Area dance music and underground arts scene. He's been called a "Renaissance man of the West Coast scene", and with good reason. The founder of the legendary Opulent Temple collective, best known for their premierre sound stage at Burning Man, Board Member and key producer of the San Francisco LovEvolution event (formerly known as LoveFest & Love Parade), founder of Opel Productions, throwing club events and 'parties with purpose' in San Francisco for 10+ years, a child psychologist with a Doctorate in transpersonal psychology, a music producer, blogger on social issues, and of course - a DJ.
Syd has been organizing events since 2001 when he started throwing both underground parties and benefit events for different charities with Spundae. The following year he started his own production company Opel Productions, intended to be parties with purpose showcasing a range of forward thinking underground dance music with a dash of social activism thrown in the party message. In 2003, he finished his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, founded Opulent Temple, and joined the Board for San Francisco's Love event, where he heads up the Marketing Team, and & Entertainment Team. In his current 'day job', he works out of a community clinic with foster kids in the Bayview Hunter Point area in San Francisco.
On the DJ tip, Syd is one of the West Coast's top talents, consistently being voted in the Top 10 San Francisco Dream Team poll, and playing the biggest events in California party land. Playing a versatile range of electro house breaks, and tech funk,, he's been personally tapped to open and close for the varied likes of Underworld, Moby, Tiesto, Stanton Warriors, Armin Van Burren, and the list goes on. Syd knows what to do in any situation to bring the universal vibe of dance music. His debut single 'Who Are You' on Groove Quest, recently cracked the crowded Top 30 electro house chart on Beatport. His sets are known for walking the fine line between the gritty and the pretty, and he has a musical range seldom seen in party land.
Emanate [Mioli Music]
(Mioli Music // San Francisco)
Emanate (Emily & Nate) fell in love with the mystique of electronic music at an early age. Nathan Vain knew right away what his future passion held when he acquired his first turntables at the age of 17. Emily took a different route starting her journey in the music scene as a musician and then as an organizer/ promoter, this endeavor led to landing Nathan his first residency at a popular after hours spot back in 2001. A few years down the road and a desire for their success growing strong they moved to San Francisco together and started producing music as Emanate.
Nathan enhanced his knowledge of music and the industry working at DanceRecords.com as a Content Manager, that was followed by a stint interning at the Mothership / Dirtybird labels. He also spent some time at the DJTechTools office working with midi controllers and software.
Emily has developed her understanding of Electronic music culture by producing various events throughout San Francisco over the years. She also spent some time as a member of bands as a songwriter, vocalist and keyboard player. Emily’s next logical step became DJing, as a way to expand her musical talents and performance needs.
Following the path of natural evolution they started up their own label Mioli Music in 2010 (Move It Or Lose It). Since 2010 they’ve released music as Emanate and individually, as well as a few aliases. They have also signed various international artists to Mioli Music.
Both Emanate and Mioli had a breakout year in 2013 when Kollektiv Turmstrasse charted their remixes of Lily Ackerman’s “Africa” and also their remix of Tr-Ack’s “Stay” on Resident Advisor. Being featured, charted and played in DJ sets along with the likes of Stimming, Adriatique, Bonobo and David August was a milestone that validated their hard work and dedication, it also alerted the world of their arrival. A relocation to Berlin in early 2014 helped formulate and solidify their craft and sound. While in Berlin Emanate produced and released their debut album “Alliance” and played their first Live Show. The Alliance album was well received and featured on various music magazine websites and dance music blogs but also recognized by Emanate as an immensely developmental experience. 2016 was a remarkable year in their progression touring Mexico, Ibiza, Bulgaria, Berlin and with festival bookings at BPM, Mountains in the Meadows, Northern Nights and Burning Man. In 2016 they also toured the U.S. performing at famous venues such as TV Lounge, Spy Bar and Members Only (NYC). 2017 has raised the bar even more starting out with an official BPM booking and a strengthening monthly called ‘Vibes’ at the renowned San Francisco club Monarch. In 2017 they also debuted at Movement festival Detroit with the party ‘Move It Or Lose It’ as well as a debut at the world famous club Watergate this past October. Their label Mioli Music released an elegant 5 track EP by the legend Tigerskin with a remix by Emanate mid summer this year receiving warm reception and reviews by Magnetic Magazine & Ibiza Voice.
