Selected by Sam Duckworth (Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly) as the 2014 Recipient of the Shure Songwriting Award, Sophie Coran is a singer-songwriter and pianist based in Philadelphia. At age two, Coran asked her mom for a “pi-na-no,” thus beginning her musical journey. Coran received her Bachelor of Music in Classical Composition from the Manhattan School of Music. Her music has been featured on WSTW 93.7, and she has performed at varied venues throughout Philadelphia including Bourbon and Branch, and World Café Live, and she has participated in a Sofar Sounds show. Outside of Philly, Coran has performed in London, New York, and Copenhagen. Premiered by WXPN’s The Key, Coran’s first single, “Jimmy,” was released on June 30th on all major streaming and downloading platforms. “Jimmy” received airplay on Amazing Radio as well as several blog reviews. Coran’s second single and title track, “All That Matters” was released on August 25th. It was premiered by The Revue, and has been receiving blog and media attention.
