Sarah Cabral was born in southern Brasil. This connection permeates her debut, self-titled album, which Cabral also produced. She draws on modern jazz, avant-garde and classical influences to breathe new life into seemingly bygone eras of traditional and popular Brazilian music. A recent review by Helvécio Cardoso in Diário da Manha read that her music “unites the sophistication of the most exquisite taste and simplicity.”
Cabral studied at The California Jazz Conservatory with mentor Marcos Silva, and has also collaborated with artists such as Carlos Oliveira, Ricardo Peixoto, Fabiano Chagas, Scott Thompson, Wayne Wallace, The Danny Green Trio and the legendary Bororó Felipe.
Cabral currently lives in New York City and is working on her next project. She also continues to perform at notable venues and festivals around the country, including Yoshi’s, Red Poppy Art House, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Uptown Nightclub, Arte Américas, The de Young Museum, as well as Bar LunÀtico and Zinc Bar in New York City.
