Papadosio

The information age has a sound. Revolutionary technology meets a revolutionary message in Papadosio. Melding progressive rock with psychedelia, folk with electronica, and dance music with jam, the quintet has amassed a dedicated following of thousands of likeminded individuals sewing the seeds of unity and spreading the sounds of exultation. Singer-songwriter Anthony Thogmartin’s visionary lyrics, eclectic production, and signature guitar work are anchored by the rock solid battery of drummer Mike Healy and bassist Rob McConnell. The quintet is rounded out by brothers Billy and Sam Brouse, whose virtuosic two-headed keyboard, synth, and programming attack give the band its unmistakable complexity and intensity.
Born in the burgeoning, artistic city of Athens, OH, the quintet now calls another creative community, Asheville, NC its home. Little time is spent nestled up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, though, as Papadosio spends much of the year on the road, crisscrossing the United States ceaselessly. In addition to headlining shows in every region of the country, their high-energy, technologically perplexing, and utterly engaging stage show has made the five-piece a staple on the festival circuit, with scene-stealing sets at Summer Camp, Wakarusa, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Bear Creek, and their own annual event, Rootwire, an inspirational confluence of music, art, science, and spirituality. With more than 100 performances a year, the band remains prolific by passing the endless miles between cities composing new material.
The culmination of all that writing on the road is TETIOS. The follow-up to 2009’s critically acclaimed Observations finally arrived in the fall of 2012. To End the Illusion of Separation is a sprawling double album, signaling not only an evolution of the band’s sound, but a paradigm shift on a far greater scale. The album is a call for people of all stripes to reject artificial barriers of wealth, class, and creed and come together under the flag of humanity. Themes of conservation, tolerance, and mind-expansion delicately weave their way around tribal rhythms, psychedelic excursions, and soaring melodies. The fusion of the earthly, the organic, with technological innovations and progressive sonic structure plants Papadosio’s roots firmly in the past and present with an eye turned towards the horizon.

Dopapod exists at the crossroads of full throttle intensity, deep pocket groove, intricate technicality, and limitless experimentation. With no regard towards limiting themselves to stylistic boundaries, the sound that emerges from the quartet both live and in the studio is as varied and diverse as the many influences that they adapt from. Their approach and commitment to complementing a distinct genre bending sound to top-notch musicianship has set them apart from many of their contemporaries and keeps music lovers eagerly returning to shows.

In the past two years, Dopapod has firmly planted seeds in music fan's ears all up and down the East Coast and into the Midwest with their incessant touring schedule. Covering all this ground has seen the young, yet seasoned group make appearances at numerous festivals including Camp Bisco, Mountain Jam, Bonnaroo, Burning Man, Bear Creek, The Big Up, Rootwire, Strangecreek, and more. Their electric live showcase has been cultivating a fast growing, loyal fan base, and seen them share bills with artists such as Lotus, EOTO, Papadosio, Zach Deputy, Brothers Past, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Spam Allstars, Sam Kininger (Lettuce, Soulive), and Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer).

Dopapod's latest release, I Saw Live Dopapod, Evil Was I, is a candid representation of choice cuts from the first half of 2011. Recorded and mixed from multi track recordings, the album showcases the band at their very finest. From explosive disco jazz funk tracks like 'Indian Grits' and 'Off the Cuff' to wompy progstep rockers such as 'French Bowling' and 'Freight Train', the quartet's compositional and improvisational splendor has been captured and put on display to offer a peak into the brainwork of their entrancing live experience. The crown jewel of the collection might be "Dazed and Confused" – an arrangement that shows the group's simultaneous mastery at both synth-bass womp drops and guitar scorched classic rock wailing. Each track was carefully select, mixed, and mastered to showcase the full Dopapod gamut: new and old, premeditated and spontaneous, light and dark.

While the distant future reads plots for world domination, the near future will see Dopapod continuing to develop their craft both on the road and in the studio. With a heavy touring regimen in place to continue scouring the country, Drawn Onward, the second studio release, will be dropping at the blink of an eye, offering fresh takes on live favorites. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the sonic whirlwind that will be coming to venues and stereos near you!

Horizon Wireless

Horizon Wireless is a DJ (Harrison Waxenberg) and Drummer (Sol Montoya) duo from NYC that blends psychedelic break-beat music with a variety of other styles including trip-hop, minimal tech house, and electro/trance to create high energy dance sets. Seamlessly using elements from all across the sound spectrum, they weave together unique mixes for each show and create a storm of soul smashing beats, titillating harmonies, and wet melodies. This sonic tsunami can easily induce multiple crowdgasms, so bringing a towel to shows is not only recommended, but encouraged as well. Between winning the GRC Mixtape Competition; directly supporting acts like Hallucinogen, Conspirator, Brother's Past, Future Rock, BoomBox, DrFameus, and Zoogma; and rabidly building a grassroots following all around the Northeast, 2011 was a huge year for them. Be sure to catch them this year as they are showing no signs of slowing down.

Futexture

Futexture is the exploration of (trans)personal experience through sound. For David Krantz, former producer of Agobi Project and 22 year old musician based out of Asheville, NC it is the logical evolution of a lifelong musical obsession.

Combining the rhythmic appeal of dubstep and hip hop with melodic dreamscapes and creative sound design, Futexture skillfully weaves a futuristic blend of glitchy bass-heavy IDM and jazzy techstep into a forward thinking sound that defies classification. This unique sonic synthesis is equally suited for both headphones and the dancefloor, and many have described it as a breath of fresh air in electronic music today.

A new project as of late 2010, Futexture has been well received in a variety of musical circles. In the first six months of 2011 he has shared the stage with Tipper, Bassnectar, Kilowatts, Nasty Nasty, Bonobo, Ana Sia, Big Gigantic, Heyoka, Falty DL, Bird of Prey, Mimosa, Mindelixir, and Mount Kimbie, and Vibesquad.

"Futexture's music is like being in a turkish bath on LSD"
