"If you were to walk through NYC’s Greenwich Village in the late 50’s through the mid 60’s, chances are you would encounter a people who were driven by their passions. Singers, musicians, actors, painters, poets, writers, and other creative minds building art together. Sharing meals together. Slowly but surely becoming who they were meant to be together. There were no dreams of grandeur, or an expectation of discovery. Just folks with the freedom and drive to make something that, without them, the world would never get to hear, see, or feel. It is this spirit that still remains in the floorboards, and stained on the windows that face the Hudson at 5j Barrow.
Founded by Eryn Murman and Jason Hite in the fall of 2011, 5j Barrow has built an audience brick by brick through the boroughs of New York City, earning the title of “Best Band in NYC” after winning The Greene Space WNYC/WQXR’s ‘Battle of the Boroughs 2014.’ They were rewarded with an appearance at the historic Apollo Theater. After releasing their debut album From the Dim, Sweet Light in 2014, they set out on the road, playing to packed venues in Cleveland, Nashville, Ithaca and Washington DC.
