The anti-genre indie pranksters SeepeopleS have been a band for 17 years. The band, which is the brainchild of bandleader/songwriter/producer Will Bradford, has released 5 full length albums and 2 EPs on their own imprint, RascalZRecordZ. It would be an accurate statement to say that there isn't a single band on the planet that covers as much ground musically, or traverses through as many musical universes as SeepeopleS does. Musicians have long since taken notice and members of Morphine, Spearhead, Dave Matthews Band (Tim Reynolds), and even members of Parliament/Funkadelic and Lynyrd Skynyrd are featured on previous albums. All seven records were co-produced by Will Holland (Pixies, New Pornographers, Dead Can Dance) The band has toured ceaselessly, playing over 1500 shows in 46 states during their long career. Most importantly, SeepeopleS features songwriting that is the definition of timelessness and lyrically have been busy writing the most important musical anthems of our generation. It may be long after our lifetimes before this band gets their due, but they certainly will. Nothing this good can remain hidden forever.
As far as "hype" goes, the band was recently nominated for "Best Live Act" for the 2016 New England Music Awards. Other nominations include "Best New Artist" (Relix Magazine Awards 2007).The band has shared the stage and toured with such acts as Death Cab for Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, Cracker, De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Ben Harper, Kula Shaker, Presidents of the United States and have even had Jon Fishman (Phish) join the band for a SeepeopleS set during a Bernie Sanders rally. They have been featured in Pop Matters, Magnet, Exclaim, High Times, Relix. DRUM Magazine, Blue Walrus and now Daytrotter, to name a short few. Their music has been used on Judging Amy (TNT), The Gates (ABC), and in feature films such as 'Canvasman,' and 'Wheels Over Paradise,' as well as on the Discovery Channel and NASCAR broadcasts. They provided most of the music for the Headcount (voting registration) documentary 'Call To Action' and have played CMJ, SXSW, as well as a major music festivals' Wakarusa and Allgood Music Festival.
Recently the band released their newest EP, 'HATE' in 2017 as well as a brand new video animated by Pete List (Celebrity Death Match/MTV, Marilyn Manson). The band has been on tour for the past couple years in support of their triple series of EP releases, 'LOVE,' 'HATE,' and 'LIVE,' which is scheduled for release this Christmas. All three EPs will be released digitally with some bonus tracks as 'SeepeopleS LOVE HATE LIVE' at that time as well.
"Devin Davis' knotty, unguarded wail and Justin Geter's distortion-heavy, brutally melodic riffs on tracks like the churning "Bender' and the breakneck 'Care to Slam?' are like an alternate Nineties where L7 was the biggest band in the world." – Maura Johnston, Rolling Stone
"I hate it when critics claim that grunge killed hair metal — not just because it’s untrue, but because it makes grunge sound like no fun. Remember Kurt Cobain screaming “Doll Steak! Test Meat!” and then laughing his ass off? That freewheeling creative energy was a huge part of what made those bands special. It’s also what makes TheWorst special. This Portland trio is the creation of singer/songwriter/guitarist Brooke Binion, an artist who can drive her point home effectively whether it’s through a murmur or a scream. Jane Doe Embryo is the band’s debut, and like the best grunge, it’s a thrilling emulsification of punk and pop – loud-ass music that the neighbors might get hooked on before they get around to calling the cops. Drummer Benbazi and bass player Will Bradford (who also fronts the band SeepeopleS) add even more propulsion behind Binion’s hard-charging riffs. All this adrenalized melody provides a counterweight to the ballast of her lyrics, which tackle themes of trauma and addiction in a matter-of-fact tone that sticks with you. And crucially, TheWorst are tight enough to execute dynamic shifts with ease."
Vanessa Silberman is a Los Angeles based Singer, Guitarist , Songwriter and the founding member of the LA band Diamonds Under Fire. She is also a Record Producer, Engineer, an independent A&R and runs an Artist Development Label called A Diamond Heart Production.
Vanessa's live shows and music has been compared to the raw bare bones rock 'n roll of Nirvana & The Ramones along with the appeal of Liz Phair & Chrissie Hynde, authenticity of classic artists such as Patti Smith, Neil Young & the pop sensibilities of commercial radio artists such as Green Day. Vanessa often tours solo, features other musicians/players or plays under the Vanessa Silberman Band with Reed Mullin, drummer of Corrosion of Conformity and Producer/Musician Mikel Ross as her backing band.
She is also widely known for having a very strong DIY ethic and wearing many different hats in the music business --having worked for heavy hitter's in the music business such as Dr.Luke as well as for company's and places ranging from Epitaph Record's to the Foo Fighter's Studio 606.
Her band Diamonds Under Fire was around for well over a decade and self-released numerous EPs, toured around the US 10 times – also played Canada, the UK, SXSW & SSMF. In Los Angeles, ether solo or with the band Vanessa's music has made its mark on all the known venues including El Rey, The Troubadour, Viper Room, The Echo, Bootleg Theatre and many others. In the winter of 2014 Vanessa launched her solo career and opened up for Alkaline Trio at The Troubadour. Vanessa released her first solo (Self-Produced & Mixed) single 'Think Tank (feat. Derek Jordan)' on July 21st 2015 and performed at Alt 98.7FM Lobster Festival following it with a 21 Date solo U.S Tour to support the release.'I Know (feat. Super Black Market)', her 2nd single, was released on Dec. 22nd 2015, which she also wore production duties on and a 3rd (acoustic) single 'American Folk Rock' was put out on Feb. 14th (which was recorded in Mafikeng, South Africa while she was there doing a producing / label collaboration with BOP Recording Studio & her A Diamond Heart Production working with various South African artists). This release coincided with her 35+ date solo 'American Folk Rock' U.S Tour (Jan - Mar 2016) as well as 2 dates over sea's (London & Berlin).
With continual shows and touring, the 4th single 'Awake & Feeling' from her self-titled debut 5 song EP (which came out on Oct 7th, 2016), and an acoustic 60's inspired single 'Hide My Love Away' she hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. Vanessa managed to do over 14 U.S Tours in the last 2-3 years (2015-2018), playing way over 450 shows and over 200 in 2017 alone.
On Dec. 22nd 2017 the Vanessa Silberman Band released the single 'OK'. The ‘OK’ Music Video and song had its radio debut May 14th, 2018 on The Goddamn Dave Hill Show on WFMU 91.1FM in New York.
Vanessa will be playing 3 dates on this years last and final Vans Warped Tour in San Diego, Ventura and Las Vegas as well as releasing a brand new single “Outswimming Sharks” (6/29) through her label which was recorded by Ken Susi of Unearth. The single also features him as well as acclaimed Boston artist Carissa Johnson.
Vanessa is currently in the mixing stages for the next Vanessa Silberman Band EP with Reed Mullin & Mikel Ross.
Vanessa has been featured on the cover of Columbia Daily Tribune, The Fort Stockton Pioneer, in The Source Weekly, The Herald Times, Davis Enterprise, Statesmen Journal, soundgirls.org plus many others. Her songs have received national radio play on well over 80 stations including: KFMU, KXLU, KBND, Jefferson Public Radio Ashland, KLCZ, WXCI, SCAD Radio / WRSF, WWUH, WXJM, KBGA, KTCV, KOAS plus many others.
Vanessa'a solo music demonstrates that she hasn't completely ignored her alternative pop rock grunge roots of her later band but isn't afraid to try new things as she tastefully shows more skills in production, versatility between songs, even featuring other artists / collaborating as well as invites in more inspiration by different influences ranging from pop and old country blues to punk & hip hop.
She is the kind of artist that fits in perfectly with this new era in music and demonstrates the platform of artists & bands out there who are building their own nitch in the music industry and are truly destined for success. Vanessa and her music are a growing brand proving a career that will have longevity because of knowing what she wants, doing it herself and paving her own way.
