Jack Ladder will perform an intimate solo set to mark the release of Blue Poles, his fifth album, released via Terrible Records in May.
A singular character in Australian music, his latest album named after the infamous Jackson Pollock painting manages to be mournful, sardonic and surreal, and showcases an essential voice and master of musical narrative.
These are Jack Ladder’s first US shows since he toured the country opening for and playing guitar alongside his good friend, Alex Cameron in 2017 and early 2018.
Self produced by Ladder, the nine songs of Blue Poles were recorded at Oceanic Studio in Sydney, engineered by Tim Whitten (The Necks, The Church, The Go-Betweens) and mixed in Los Angeles by Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, The Strokes).
On “Blue Poles” we find the “Artist” working to describe the polarities we find within ourselves. The separation of public and private personas and the vacuum of melancholy in the space where the two shall never meet. The result is a glorious celebration of absurdity and sincerity.
