With a new line-up, record, accolades from Reverend Peyton and all the power and momentum of her previous work from SWAGGER, Cari Ray is at it again.
It’s no wonder that Cari Ray has become recognized as a storyteller who tells her tales through song; songs that manifest themselves in ones mind, transporting them to somewhere in the early part of the last century...perhaps sitting at the back table or out on the dance floor of a back alley juke joint. Cari’s influences as a writer and performer are always clear and present in her original material, spanning a wide range of earlyAmerican music... a helping of acoustic blues, a little folk, a rasher of ragtime, and a slight flavor of old-time country. Her live show as always serves it up handily with quick wit, tasty fingerstyle guitar, and a huge voice. Add the powerful harmony vocals of percussionist and long-time collaborator, Dionne Ward, and you have Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs. With a unique blend of heart and grit , this power duo will have your heart breaking one minute and your hips shaking the next...all while wondering where they’re hiding the rest of band.
Reverend Peyton (of Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band) explains what all the fuss is about:
“Cari Ray’s songwriting is clever and catchy. Her voice is huge, seriously huge. I had such a great time producing her record, Bad & Better Angels. Her talent shines bright.” ~ Reverend Peyton
Solo or with her band, Cari finds a way to strike a perfect balance between energy and intimacy. With a unique blend of heart and grit, this powerhouse entertainer just doesn’t miss. Now with a new record titled Bad & Better Angels, to be distributed through The Orchard, Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs hits the road this Summer for a North American tour.
