Atlantic recording artist Skizzy Mars has announced the release of his eagerly awaited debut. 'ALONE TOGETHER' drops everywhere on January 22, 2016.
Produced by longtime collaborator Michael Keenan, the track "Alcoholics" had its world premiere as part of a major feature in The Village Voice, which noted, "('Alcoholics') shows Skizzy's indulgences in plain sight -- libations, pills, anything to slow down time so as to buy a few more hours until sunrise. It's new emotional territory compared to that in which we're used to seeing Skizzy -- and it only creates more anticipation for 'ALONE TOGETHER.'" In addition, The Source praised the new track, noting "it mixes the moody, viscous production and tone of Cudi's best work with the introspective, emotion-laden croons of, say, 808's Kanye -- rather seamlessly," while The Fader celebrated the tracks "infectious hook" and "dreamy production."
Skizzy Mars earned instant buzz with his first single, 2011's "Douchebag," and has since made his bones as one of contemporary rap's most eclectic new stars. The Harlem-based MC -- known to his family as Myles Mills -- followed "Douchebag" with the powerful "Profound" as well as a pair of much-talked-about mixtapes and increasingly popular live appearances as both headliner and support to such stars as G-Eazy, Logic, and fellow Atlantic artists B.o.B and Ty Dolla $ign.
Highlighted by chart-topping tracks like "Time (Ft. G-Eazy & Olivver the Kid)," 'THE RED BALLOON PROJECT' EP dropped in February 2015 and proved a straight-up sensation, debuting at #4 on Billboard's "Top Rap Albums" chart before peaking at #35 on the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200. A 33-city headline tour followed, highlighted by sold out shows in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Skizzy's own NYC.
Skizzy has also received a remarkable range of press coverage, with features in such outlets as The Fader, NYLON, HipHopDX, Earmilk, Pigeons & Planes, and HotNewHipHip, as well as an appearance on the premiere installment of XXL's "Ante Up" podcast.
What happens when a kid from a small town comes of age in the Internet era and is influenced by Bob Dylan and Morrissey as much as he is by Wiz Khalifa and Gucci Mane? You get Goody Grace. He plays his six-string and sings with emotion and raps melodically about being a kid with a dream. He has been mentored by music guru Cisco Adler since the age of 16 after contacting him via Twitter. Since then, countless hours writing for himself and others and daily recording sessions have helped shape this natural talent into a well rounded artist with a point of view and a voice waiting to be heard.
He recently co-wrote Cody Simpson's single "Flower," and co-wrote and is featured on Atlantic Records rising star Gnash's song "That One Song," which has well over 1 million Spotify streams and counting. Goody's last song "2 Shots" featuring Gnash did close to 300k plays on Soundcloud in its first week, and the close collaborators recently wrapped a sold out tour together.
Goody Grace is poised to be the answer to his own question. Can a kid from small town Manitoba with a big dream make it? The answer is yes, and it will be a pleasure to watch this kid take over the entire world with his talent and charm. Stay tuned and follow the young future....
