Producer Seven Lions has never had a problem breaking rules and transcending musical boundaries to satisfy his creative vision. Catching his break after winning a Beatportremix contest in 2012 with his dubstep-focused version of Above & Beyond’s “You Got to Go”, Seven Lions, born Jeff Montalvo, garnered early support from the likes of Skrillex and his OWSLA label. 2013 tour dates with Porter Robinson and Krewella pushed Montalvo and his genre-bending production style to the forefront of the modern electronic music scene.Putting sheer technical production prowess to work in soulful, deep, hybridized creations all distinctly his own, the multi-talented musician is single-handedly changing the sonic landscape for future generations to come by bridging the gap between the soaring, ethereal vibe of trance and intensely adrenalizing bass music. His productions have seen stages at world-renowned festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival (New York and Las Vegas), Electric Forrest, Electric Zoo, South by Southwest, and HARD. After several successful releases under the OWSLA label (his debut EP, Days to Come, reached #2 on the iTunes Dance charts), Montalvo released his highly anticipated 2014 follow-up EP, Worlds Apart, on Republic Records’ dance imprint Casablanca. Containing several notable features which include Ellie Goulding and Tove Lo, Worlds Apartdebuted at #1 on the iTunes Dance charts, and the title track was also featured in Billboard’s “Top 10 Electronic/Dance Songs of 2014” list. The EP also featured the smash hit and canonical dance track ‘Strangers’, featuring superstar vocalist Tove Lo. ‘Strangers’ was a definitive track in what was perhaps the peak of American electronic dance music, and solidified Seven Lions as one of the scene’s premier artists. In 2015, Seven Lions began releasing music in EP formats, devoting each EP to a cohesive idea and world found within the Seven Lions universe.2015’s “The Throes of Winter” hints at a larger seasonal theme, to be continued through to his future releases. When asked about the spark for this vision, he explains, "Since artists aren't releasing proper albums anymore, it makes sense to create something that's digitally artistic with real cohesion as opposed to tossing out singles and just haphazardly seeing what sticks... I wanted to start making the music more thematic, interesting, and part of something larger.”Bucking more trends and breaking from convention, his 2016 Creation EP [Casablanca Records] followed a different path for his latest body of work. “This time, songwriting really took place on guitar,” he explains. “There are more acoustic elements in the songs, and that ties it together. I wanted to get a little more experimental. I didn’t worry if something was going to be a big banger on the dancefloor or not. I just made what felt right at the time.” Ultimately, Seven Lions continues challenging himselfand musical genres. “I want to do something different,” he concludes. “Everything doesn’t have to fit into just one genre. I want people to walk away loving different kinds of music and sounds.”This year saw Seven Lions once more travelacross the country on his There and Back Again club-focused tour, in addition to hallmark festival appearances at Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Life in Color, EDC Japan, Middlelands, Electric Zoo,and Paradiso, amongst others. This summer the sound-sculptor unveiled his highly-anticipated Where I Wont Be Found EPas well, continuing his always growing world, identified via these annual EP projects. The eight-track offering is a wondrous journey from start to. From the heavily streamed and critically praised “Freesol,” to the energetic future bass collaboration “Rescue Me” with scene upstart Unlike Pluto, Where I Wont Be Found reminds fans of what made Seven Lions who he is today -a singular talent in electronic music, and a producer who hasalwaysforged his own lane. In support of the EP and the year as a whole, Seven Lions will wrap up 2017 with a 20 date North American headlining tour with Tritonal (and Kill The Noise as support). Playing some of America’s largest theatres, the Horizon Tour hits LA (2 nights atthe iconic Palladium), NYC (Brooklyn’s Hangar), Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco (Bill Graham), Toronto, and many other key locales.
MitiS has been perfecting his special breed of piano-driven melodic bass since 2010. Brought up as a Classical pianist in Pennsylvania, MitiS, aka Joseph Torre performs a live set that combines his production chops and piano roots to get the absolute best of both worlds. He’s an artist in the purest sense, pouring his soul into every release. And as his vision of the world becomes more refined, so does his writing.
Torre says, "I just want to share good music, have it be through performance or a small, simple social setting. Music is what I do, I wouldn't change that for anything. Have it be a Chopin piece playing in a hall, or a bass kickin the club's ass, I'm down for either."
He may be down for either, but really excels at a strong combination of both. "I find myself unable to stop making phat basses, heavy beats, and throwing melodies into the mix… I can't think of anything else more appetizing; It's the new age Classical." Many a fan has told Torre that they can recognize a MitiS song by its first note, the supreme compliment for any musician.
Jason Ross is one of the true rising stars in dance music. He’s been chosen by Above & Beyond for a collaboration on the club mix of ‘Fly To New York’, collaborated alongside Seven Lions to create their festival anthem "Higher Love", worked on mashups with Kaskade, and most recently headlined the 2017 Anjunabeats North America tour.
The young beatsmith’s latest single, titled ‘I Will Be There” feat. Lauren Ray, became Record of the Week on ABGT and quickly was supported by the likes of Cosmic Gate, Gareth Emery, ilan Bluestone, Genix, and many more. Jason’s songs are always larger than life, and “I Will Be There” is no exception.
Early 2014 saw Jason’s true beginning when “Burma” was released, landing him squarely on the radar of the Anjunabeats A&R team and Above & Beyond, who played the track in their weekly Group Therapy Radio show (ABGT). The next week, listeners of ABGT voted “Burma” to be played again as Record of the Week, and then again for the following week’s show. It would be an understatement to say it’s rare for a non-Anjunabeats track to be played in three consecutive episodes of the radio show. For perspective, it’s happened less than 5 times in nearly 600 total episodes going back to 2004. Jason signed to Anjunabeats soon after.
His tracks have proven to be bona fide dance floor gold, blasting through sound systems at Madison Square Garden, the EDC Vegas Main Stage, and countless other venues. Above & Beyond and many others continue to see massive crowds surge with excitement whenever they drop a Jason Ross track. The balance of powerful emotion and electrifying energy created in his productions is proving to be a perfect yin and yang, earning him the “future face of trance” crown by Electric Daisy Carnival creators Insomniac.
Since “Burma” he has released a sequence of galvanizing tunes on the label, including “Elements,” “Cairo,” and his collaboration with Wrechiski, “Atlas,” which quickly shot up to the #1 spot on the Beatport Trance chart. Most recently, “Coaster” and “Monarch” have been heaping up praise, including support from the Anjunabeats core of A&B, Andrew Bayer and ilan Bluestone, along with Seven Lions, Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, Andrew Rayel, Andi Durrant, Markus Schulz, Ben Gold, Andy Moor, Cosmic Gate, Super8 & Tab, Dennis Shepherd, Kyau & Albert and many more.
Jason’s first vocal single, “Me Tonight” featuring Lauren Ray, shot up the Beatport charts to become his second Beatport Trance #1. As the lead single off of the ‘Anjunabeats Worldwide 06’ compilation, curated and mixed by Jason himself, “Me Tonight” set the tone for an exhilarating, forward-thinking musical journey of Anjunabeats’ exclusives. The compilation is highlighted by six of Jason’s own originals, remixes and collaborations, including two new tracks alongside labelmate ilan Bluestone and a stellar remix of Seven Lion’s hit “Creation.” The compilation charted in the Top 5 of iTunes Dance Albums in seven major markets, including Australia, India, and the United States. Jason is embarking on his first solo headlining tour in support of the compilation, spanning 14 dates and cities across North America, in addition to supporting Above & Beyond at their ABGT200 celebration in September.
