The Nuclears are a band from Brooklyn, NY that lives for leather jackets, Rolling Rock, and making a whole lot of noise.
The Nukes' musical influences are readily apparent from the second the needle hits the wax, but it's equally clear that these boys aren't satisfied with copping riffs and rehashing tunes everyone's heard before. They're not reinventing the wheel, but they're sure as hell pumping some much-needed fresh air into the tires.
2012 saw the band release a series of singles, including the paranoiac fuzzed-out stomper "Myrtle Ave at 4:00am" and the boy-girl Motown refugee that is "Baby You Know I Love You (But You Gotta Stop Bringing Me Down)," that showcase just how much they're willing to push themselves out of their comfort zone of party tunes blasted through amps perpetually cranked to 11. Nobody could rightly accuse them of "maturing," but it's plain to see that the band's not done with exploring all possible methods of melting faces.
Right now, the Nuclears are in the process of completing their second LP, to be released just in time for a massive nationwide spring tour that will have them performing at South By Southwest in Austin, TX and cutting a session at Horseshack recording studio in Rock Island, IL for the website Daytrotter.
"The Nuclears play exactly the kind of rock n roll that the CBGB's Festival had been missing all weekend. Band members bent over backwards to solo onstage, hair plastered to sweaty foreheads, pin-balling between packed throngs of fans that included glimpses of false eyelashes, fishnets, and glittery flapper dresses on both men and women.... And isn't that the true spirit of CBGB?" - Consequence Of Sound
"Gutter rock numbers that do The Dictators proud...one confident, bad-ass, braggadocios bunch." - Broken Beard
