Drinker, Josephine, Shaded

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona to Persian parents, Joséphine’s musical influence came from Middle Eastern music and hip hop alike. Josephine grew up listening to world music, hip hop and blues ranging from Persian artist Moein, greats Etta James and Janis Joplin, to rap, most notably Eminem. The melting pot of influence served as the basis for her unique sound and sing-rap cadence much like SZA and Halsey. Josephine’s self-released debut visual album “Love Trap: The Story” released in August 2017 has garnered over 150,000 streams to date and features on publications like High Snobiety & Magnetic Mag to name a few.

Blending the shades of light and darkness along with minimalism and maximalism, Shaded formed in 2017 as an artistic endeavor between three individuals.

Drinker is the recording project of singer / songwriter Aaron Mendelsohn and producer / composer Ariel Loh. Based in LA and New York, the bi-coastal duo creates "meticulously crafted" (DIY Magazine) music that has been described as "downtempo psych-pop" (The Line Of Best Fit). Their collaborative efforts meet in either cities, where they bring their individual songwriting and production together. Their 2017 debut EP "Happy Accident" gained support from KCRW, Spotify, as well as rising to the top 10 on the Hype Machine popular charts.

The live show opens the sound up to a 4 piece outfit based in Los Angeles. Bobby Danubrata on guitar, Emily Tooraen on synth, bass and vocals, and Josh Harris on drums.

Their upcoming full length "Fragments" explores the idea of experiences in our lives as individual entities scattered across our existence, and faced with the constant challenge of piecing it back together. The 9-track album pushes their sound into new territories while embracing cinematic and electronic dance elements, all the while grounded in minimal and intricate arrangements. The record is due out in fall of 2018.
