La Chamba & María Del Pilar
W. 6th St. and S. Park View St.
Los Angeles, CA, 90057
This event is all ages
"Chamba" means “work,” and is a word used on the streets of Latino/a America to describe your “hustle.” With roots in East and South Central Los Angeles, La Chamba fuses electric guitar & organs with heavy Afro-Latin rhythms (such as cumbia, salsa, timba & rumba), to create a working-class sound inspired by 60’s and 70’s psychedelic Peruvian Surf-Pop music known as "Chicha." La Chamba will make you move and groove to the soul of the concrete jungle, and encourage you let-loose and release your grind on the dance floor!
María del Pilar
Born in Chile and raised in Los Angeles by her musician father, Pilar Díaz first gained recognition as Lady P, the frontwoman and chief songwriter of bilingual Latin alternative pop group Los Abandoned. She now performs and records solo as María del Pilar.
