‘Get the Shivers’ at this monthly residency hosted by singer/songwriter Mackenzie Shivers, who started writing songs at age 4 after telling her mom she had music inside of her that ‘needed to come out.’ Starting lessons at age 5, the piano drives her indiefolk music, her fingers guiding a poignant ballad or “pounding the keys with the reckless abandon of a 11-17-70–era Elton John” (The Village Voice).
Pearl Rhein is an actor, musician, singer-songwriter & composer based in New York City. Last year she was singing, dancing and rocking the viola 8 times a week with the Original Broadway Cast of "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812." "The terrific Pearl Rhein" (Washington Post) is "an amazing musician" (Edge Boston) "possessed of a strong, clear voice" (theatreiseasy.com) . She is also a strong, goofy, emotionally generous and down-and-dirty feminist in love with language and music and storytelling and sexuality and play. Her ideal season would include Shakespeare, Caryl Churchill, Tracy Letts, and an original ensemble-produced play-with-music based on a really good book. Pearl is especially interested in (and good at, if she does say so herself in the third person) heightened language, humor, extreme physicality, gender-bending, dialects, acting through music and playing poor white trash.
