Raised in Manchester on his father's extensive record collection, multi-instrumentalist Tom Walker has developed a unique style that blends J Dilla inspired hip-hop beats with electronic sounds, layered on top of his soulful and gritty vocal.
His debut track 'Sun Goes Down' incorporates a sample from a 1930's rendition of the work song 'I'll Be So Glad When The Sun Goes Down,' as he explores the idea of the oppression that still remains in the modern world, an issue Tom feels strongly about. "Despite certain aspects changing for the better, many negative aspects still remain in society,"he says. "Even though we think we are free, we are still slaves to society."
Oliver Riot is comprised of Benjamin and Alexander Moore, identical twins from New Mexico, USA. The brothers spent their youth busking bars, breweries, and street corners, performing gypsy music in the style of Django Reinhardt before moving to Los Angeles. Shortly following their move, Oliver Riot took home first place in the Grammy's annual "Rock The Mic Competition", showcasing emerging California artists, and were awarded studio time with legendary producer, Mike Clink (Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Eddie Money, etc.).
Oliver Riot released their debut EP, Hallucinate, produced in its entirety by accomplice "Real Miilk" in the back room of an old Korean Church. Alexander lived in his van parked outside of the church while creating this record, and both brothers continue to do so while recording the duo's next works. Often compared to James Vincent McMorrow, James Blake, and Passenger, IndieTrendSetters says, "Oliver Riot is a dazzling point of unnoticed incandescence, an ineffable aurora devoid of deserving admirers, a true work of underground art that makes mainstream music look like superficial sham."
Based in Los Angeles, the twins just released their second highly anticipated EP entitled Neurosis.
