The Mammals Feat. Mike + Ruthy

Known for their jubilant, high-energy shows, The Mammals deftly move from older-than-dirt fiddle & banjo duets to sound-the-alarm topical fare that’s right in line with the times, bouncing from roof raising hoe-downs to hear-a-pin-drop a cappella balladry. The band is fronted by songwriters Mike Merenda + Ruth Ungar (aka: Mike + Ruthy) with lush arrangements that feature Konrad Meissner on drums, Josh Meyers on bass and Rob Stein on pedal steel.

* For this special home-town show, their Woodstock pals Connor Kennedy and Tracy Bonham will drop by to sit in as well! *

The Mammals began as indie-roots trailblazers in the 00's, hibernated for a spell, and have now returned to bring their special brand of politically-infused string-band fervor back to the stage. In an era of disconnect, these folk revivalists re-connect generations with their truth-telling lyrics, off-the-cuff storytelling and euphoric instrumentals. WDST has been spinning their 2017 single "Culture War" which, according to No Depression, "gets right to the heart of the fight for the American soul."

You may also know these folks as the producers/organizers of the Winter Hoot and Summer Hoot - two annual community folk festivals at The Ashokan Center in Olivebridge.

"The Mammals don’t suffer from multiple genre syndrome, they celebrate it as if gleefully aware that the sound barriers separating old-timey music, vintage pop and contemporary folk are as permeable as cotton.” (Washington Post)
