Larry Vuckovich Quintet Plays Miles Davis At The Black Hawk

Larry Vukovich

As a teenager, Larry Vuckovich heard Miles Davis numerous times at the Blackhawk. The first time it was with Miles’ original quintet that included John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. In 1961 Miles brought another stellar quintet that featured Hank Mobley, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. The Friday & Saturday nights Blackhawk live recording with this group has now attained legendary status. They represent the epitome of straight ahead post bop jazz style. Larry’s Bay Area all-star quintet will create these exciting sounds and recall such selections as Bye Bye Blackbird, If I Were a Bell, All of You, Walkin’, Oleo and more.
