Called “a musical poet” by the San Francisco Chronicle and praised for his “lustrous, melancholy voice” by The New York Times, Santa Fe-based songwriter and author David Berkeley has been a guest on This American Life, won the Kerrville New Folk competition and ASCAP’s coveted Johnny Mercer Songwriter Award. Berkeley's most recent project is a novella of intertwining short stories and an accompanying album of songs, each sung from the perspective of the stories’ main characters. It’s an incredible combination that, like most of Berkeley’s art, manages to both break and heal the heart.
