Singer/songwriter Mike Scala born in Brooklyn By age 19, Mike was performing at underground jazz and rock venues across New York, LA, Ireland, and England such as CBGB’s, The Bitter End, Troubadour, The Viper Room, and Temple Bar. From busking on the streets and in subways to performing in Yankee Stadium this September 2013, Mike has established himself as a leading independent artist.
In 2007, Mike embarked on his first world tour across the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand and again on a second tour in 2011 performing in 50 cities and selling 25,000 albums independently. On these tours he supported and worked with bands bands such as Gavin Degraw, Alien Ant Farm, The Coronas, The John Butler Trio, DJ VH1 (DJ for Lady Gaga), and Wu Tang Clan, consistently being recognized for his high energy performances.
Known for his sense of adventure, Mike performed a “world first” concert on the Franz Josef Glacier on the South Island of New Zealand which gained the attention of international newspapers and TVNZ. Mike has been featured on national TV stations such as RTE and ABC and has gained international radio play for his singles “Fallin,” “Autumn Ashes,” “Lead Me,” and “Home.” With the new additions of Dan Vosk (Lead Guitar, Backing Vox), Chris “Moses” Kinlow (Drums), Marcus Miller (Saxophone), and Luke Capon (Bass) in 2011, Mike has developed a prolific sound by blending together alternative, jazz, orchestral, and hip hop elements of which are incorporated into his third full length album due out in Sept. 2012.
In 2009, he established the Mike Scala Foundation for Youth, an organization that provides aid and educational opportunities for at-risk youth across the U.S. and developing countries. The organization has worked with UNICEF, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and The American Cancer Society. He also founded musician alliances around the world in order to provide mentoring and music programs for youth in need.
Ballroom Jacks are an alternative rock and roll band which formed in Queens, New York in 2010. Composed of brothers Will Arland (Singer and Songwriter) and Ben Arland (Bassist), Conor McGlone (Drums) and Graham Stone (Guitar), the band is influenced by 1960's American girl groups, Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, and the aesthetic of new wave 80's music. The song writing of Will Arland combined with the clipped precision of the drums and reverbed guitar tones create soaring compositions that uplift with melancholic angst.
