Culture + Cuisine: Oktoberfest

Culture and Cuisine
When Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Bavaria in October 1810, the citizens of Munich were invited to festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. This was the first Oktoberfest. One of the largest fairs in the world, the festival was moved to begin in September to allow for better weather conditions. An important part of Bavarian culture, Oktoberfest is now celebrated in over 15 countries.
Please join us at International House as chefs from Brauhaus Schmitz bring authentic German wursts, sides, desserts and beers to University City, as well as give a fun and informative talk on this delicious cuisine. Visit www.brauhausschmitz.com to learn more about this local restaurant. We are also thrilled to host the Media German Ompah Band for some Bavarian tunes. Show your Alpine appreciation by donning your best Lederhosen or Dirndl!
Admission includes three German beer and wine drink tickets.
