Francisco Y Madero (Carlos Pesina)
The seeds for Francisco Y Madero were planted in 2010 when San Franciscan Jess Sylvester reached out to Carlos Pesina, a native of Guadalajara through MySpace. A mutual admiration of the others work grew. Their relationship budded when Jess visited Carlos while studying abroad and visiting family. Pesina invited Sylvester to record and play shows in his band Los Amparito. Pesina's other projects include Pepepe, Pesina Siller, while Sylvester played previously in the bands Tiger Uppercut! and Good Girls and currently records as Marinero. Pesina and Sylvester found common ground in their love of vintage and modern pop, rock and psychedelia and decided to form a group together. Naming themselves Francisco Y Madero they built enough material via internet dropboxes and visits to Guadalajara to comprise their second EP which will be released Summer 2012. The EP nods to 60′s psychedelic pop from both the U.S. (in its harmonies) and Latin America (in it's rhythms) but is built from a combination of live instruments, vocals and samples.
