The Shake Ups are an award-winning, Indianapolis-based power-pop music collective. Formed in 2005 by guitarist/singer/songwriter Patrick O'Connor (Five Year Mission, The Madeira), the band features Savannah O'Connor (keys), Luisanna Rodriguez (vocals), Ed Cho (guitars), Lee Cherolis (bass), and Steven Hinckley (drums). The Shake Ups blend co-ed vocals, bouncy melodies and infectious energy into a refreshingly charming sound. For the past half-decade, they have been wowing audiences across the U.S. at pop culture conventions (Comic Con, Gen Con, Wizard World) as well as festivals and nightclubs.
The band's new project, 'The Shake Ups In Beach City,' pays tribute to the critically-lauded, Emmy-nominated Cartoon Network series, Steven Universe. Inspired by the adventures of the show's young protagonist and his team of alien protectors, The Shake Ups fuse their signature music stylings with elements of Steven Universe to create an expansive new collection of surf guitar-fueled, power-pop gems(vocals, percussion), Steve Hinckley (drums) and Ed Cho (guitars). Originally formed in 2005, The Shake Ups have independently released several full-length albums on their own Gelatinous Productions and Murk-Ta imprints alongside projects with indie labels Blindspot and Not Lame. The band has performed at San Diego's legendary House of Blues and at events such as the International Pop Overthrow Festival and Blitzkrieg Bash, among others. The Shake Ups initiated a family-friendly musical side project in 2013, expanding their fanbase exponentially.
Frank Dean has been at the forefront of Indiana music scene
for over three decades. He's recorded over a dozen projects either solo
or with Hard Times, Blue DeVille, Hillbilly Central, Sindacato,
and The Snakehandlers. He's received two "Album Of The Year" awards from The Indianapolis Star and NUVO magazine for the CD's "Sindacato" and "Logan County" plus three "Band Of The Year" awards for Sindacato, and Hillbilly Central. He now performs as Frank Dean & Logan County, The R&B group Cadillac Scott & The Snakehandlers, and in an acoustic trio with Scott Parkhurst & LuAnn Lietz.
