Get Freaky 2017

DJ and producer based in Los Angeles, US.

The name itself presents a terrifying image- a mangled, forced extraction, quite literally "removal by cutting". It should come as no surprise that the sounds behind this name are just as filthy, brutal, and unforgiving as the namesake suggests.

Excision shows are like no other- a virtual apocalypse of twisting and morphing sounds turn massive crowds into a frenzy, as virtual walls of bass are relentlessly impaled time and time again upon their fragile bodies and ears. Your ears will ring and your eyes will roll into the back of your head as you are suspended in what can only be called a true sensory overload. Bass will rain down from above for hours as Excision's skills as a DJ and producer shine like an unholy light from the underworld.

The true champion of bass music, Excision hails from Kelowna, British Columbia. The founder of the ROTTUN label, a bass music conglomerate that has shaped the sound of modern Bass music, Excision has created a vast roster of allies that has only bolstered his spot as a warrior of bass music. Armed with a library of destruction and filth, Excision has time and time again tested the limits of electronic music with vastly different sets that encompass a full range of genres. The things you see and hear during the precious time you are engaged by Excision's sounds will eclipse your mind for a lifetime, as you are constantly enlightened by the true fervor and energy that only an Excision set can provide.

ATLIENS HAVE REMAINED ANONYMOUS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THEIR EXISTENCE, AND INTENTIONALLY SHIFTED THE FOCUS AWAY FROM THEMSELVES, AND INSTEAD TOWARDS THEIR MUSIC AND THEIR COMMUNITY. WHETHER PLAN OR NOT, THIS HAS ONLY CATAPULTED THE GROWTH OF THEIR FANBASE, AS LISTENERS ARE SEEMING TO APPEAR IN HERDS FOR THE SUPPORT OF THEM.

IN ONLY ABOUT A YEARS TIME, ATLIENS HAVE ACCUMULATED A VAST CATALOG OF TRACKS WITH A COMBINED TOTAL OF WELL OVER 1.5 MILLION PLAYS. WITH A NOTICEABLE GROWTH IN FOLLOWING FROM ALL PARTS OF THE GLOBE, AND ARTIST SUPPORT COMING IN FROM TOP DJS IN ALL OF THE DANCE MUSIC WORLD, IT SEEMS AS THEYRE JOURNEY IS ONLY JUST THE BEGINNING

With 5 consecutive Beatport number 1s, millions of Soundcloud & YouTube plays in the last 12 months off the back of their lively social media interaction, and collaborations and remixes for Zomboy, Datsik, Excision, Destroid, Astronaut, Dodge & Fuski, Getter and more under their belt, few can deny that Barely Alive are one of the most exciting and fastest growing bass music acts to emerge over the last year.

The duo from Massachusetts USA initially made a name for themselves when they released their debut 'Lost In The Internet' EP through Disciple Recordings in late February 2014 to global acclaim, hitting the number one spot across 4 different genre charts on Beatport in just 24 hours. This made Barely Alive an over night success and to this date have been labelled as the second highest selling dubstep artist of 2014 on Beatport (One place behind Skrillex!) by Beatport themselves.

The touring soon followed across the United States and Europe with Barely Alive taking part in the first Disciple Alliance US tour and most recently embarking on the 2015 Datsik Ninja Nation tour along side Trolley Snatcha and Kennedy Jones. The guys have also gaining regular DJ support from acts such as Datsik, Excision, Pegboard Nerds, Far Too Loud and Zomboy, as well as making regular appearances on huge online music platforms such as UKF, EDM.com, This Song Is Sick and most recently, a guest mix for the infamous BBC Radio 1.

With releases on staple electronic labels including owsla, mad decent and slow roast records, as well as two, top 10 albums on the itunes dance charts, all within the span of a year; brillz should be called the rookie mvp of the bass music game.

Turning heads with his trapped-‐out blend of hip-‐hop and edm, brillz's interest in music stems from his history in the dance music scene. Introduced through the dance itself, brillz was a founding member of a dance crew called liquid pop collective before producing and djing. The group would hold events on the east coast, merging the dance styles of funk and hip-‐hop with the rave culture dance “liquid”. As he progressed into production, these themes would carry through as a foundation of brillz's aesthetic.

After releasing a handful of tracks, it was a kill the noise's “roots” remix on slow roast records
That really established him in the producer world. From there things took off. His next release was a two-‐ track collaboration with diplo on mad decent records. The ep featured the track “swoop,” which was supported by a number of impactful djs including skrillex, ktn, 12th planet, a-‐trak, zeds dead, bassnectar, flosstradamus, dillon francis and many more.

A remix of zedd’s “clarity” was his next hit. The track premiered with bbc radio 1xtra – one of the
Uk’s most popular and cutting edge stations. Following the release, requests started piling up.

Soon after, brillz made a bold move within the dj scene – he released a full-‐length album. “i wanted to do a full-‐length,” explains brillz. “i think like a painter or a fashion designer – i wanted to created a body of work and i wanted to make an impact.” The album was titled twonk. What is twonk? As brillz so simply puts, “twonk is a human weirdo, and twonk team is the movement of the weirdos. Twonk is about creativity, it’s about individuality, it’s about being weird… it’s about self expression.” The album broke into the top 10 dance chart on itunes. The twonk remix album, re-‐twonked, was released in december and landed in the top 5 on the itunes dance chart. The album featured remixes from bro safari & ufo, jack beats, loudpvck and more.

Brillz has also released a handful of remixes recently, including a remix of jay-‐z’s “dirt off your shoulders,” which was featured on jay-‐z’s blog life and times; a remix of jack beats’ “about to get fresh,” which was released on owsla; and a remix of kill the noize’s “talk to me.” While constantly working on new material, brillz is on the road with dates all across europe, confirmations at ultra music festival, sunset festival and a bunch of us dates. 2014 will also see the launch of the twonk clothing line.

Conceived in 2012, Smookie Illson is a collaborative music project aimed at injecting the dance music scene with a distinct take on bass music. 'Drop It Low', the first EP by the secretive trio was quickly snapped up by James Amato's Potty Mouth Music and released in the fall of 2012. It's fusion of ideas - a combination of electro / complextro house beats and melodies with hip hop swagger and low end bass - would become a template for their early output. They were soon tapped for an official remix of Deekline & Ed Solo's 'Number 1 Champion' featuring Kidd Money, Million Dan & MC Flipside for Deekline's Rat Records, following a string of well-received bootlegs, released via their Soundcloud and Facebook pages. After their bootleg trap remix of Atlanta artist Ree$e's 'Molly' saw great reaction online, they turned their attention to more 808 bass fueled productions. Not long after their take on Porn & Chicken's 'Take Your Shirt Off' was bouncing around the Internet, they put out the massive rework of DJ Assault's classic 'Ass 'N Titties', amassing over a 1000 downloads in a few days after premiering on the popular Run The Trap music blog. The next original singles, 'Back Up' and 'What U Gun Do' saw similar success, with 'Back Up' receiving consistent play by scene stalwarts like Atlanta's Mayhem. In December, Smookie Illson was recruited by Whiskey Pete's Switchblade Recordings to contribute material and deliver a mix for his 'Straight Leaning' compilation. The resulting composition, 'Make It Clap, Make It Roll', went on to be included in Bro Safari's 'Diplo & Friends' mix , airing on BBC Radio 1Xtra on January 6th, 2013.

There's little doubt of the hype that has been building around Virtual Riot over the last year.

Since signing to Disciple Recordings just over a year ago, Valentin Brunn has really seen his sound go from strength to strength, and with massive players in the game such as Skrillex and Excision regularly playing several of his tracks it's clear that the scene is seriously starting to take notice too.

Something of a rarity, the young German producer has managed to effortlessly combine classically trained musicality with class-leading sound design, creating wide appeal with fans across the genre, yet maintaining a level of authenticity that speaks to the foundations of either extreme. Alongside regular DJ support, Virtual Riot has racked up a vast audience online through his tutorials, fan interaction, and the more melodic side of his work.

His North American debut has been highly anticipated for a while now, and with 2017 just around the corner, we can't wait to see what's in store for him next.

Bass-heavy and bombastic, frenetic yet lush, the music of Slumberjack is born from its Perth-based creators' passion for contrast. Made up of DJ/producers Morgan Then (a 23-year-old Borneo-bred classically trained pianist and former world-music artist) and Fletcher Ehlers (a 21-year-old Australia native who taught himself to make electronic music at age 11), the duo dig into their disparate backgrounds to push into thrillingly original sonic territory. On their debut EP Slumberjack (Onelove), that dynamic reveals itself in lead single "Body Cry" (a melody-driven EDM-meets-R&B fusion included in the weekly "Skrillex Selects" SoundCloud playlist series last year) and its follow-up "Horus" (a heavy-hitting and hypnotic Eastern-flavored track that climbed to #1 on Hype Machine). With the EP hitting #2 on the iTunes electronic chart soon after its November 2014 release, Slumberjack are emerging as one of the most exciting and daringly creative acts within Australia's electronic music scene.

Intense shows with incomprehensible energy, music with great supporters from big acts across the globe, as well as a likability and intimacy with fans and supporters around the world are what make everything "Ookay". With only six months' time of being in a fast-paced, competitive and growing industry, Ookay has established himself by other as "a leader" and being at the forefront of a rapid growing music genre.

With only six months creating music, Ookay has created an imprint of a growing sound within clubs and major festival. His first ever Beatport release with Ultra Records has charted very well on the electronica chart peaking at #10. With thousands of people supporting Ookay, there's no limit to where he may go. Already associating himself with names like Borgore, UZ, Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Mayhem, Craze and more, Ookay has gained mass popularity and a likability, not just personally, but musically as well.

Ookay was recently listed as one of Vibe Magazines top Trap / Moombahton artist to watch in 2013. With his recent release on the Buygore Allstars Album taking over dance floors across the world, Ookay is definitely an artist to keep your eye on in 2013 and many years to come.
