Hailing from Asbury Park, NJ, The Catching featuring singer/songwriter Holden Glazer (vocals, bass), Jake Farbman (guitar), Evan Hemwall (guitar) and Drew Stevens (drums) - all in their teens. This power-pop rock band draws inspiration from bands like Fall Out Boy, Green Day and Twenty One Pilots. Their carefully-crafted style is highlighted by a sonic palette of polished guitar hooks, Holden's rock-based vocal rasp, a driving low end coupled by a booming backbeat.
The members of The Catching first met as 10-year-olds while performing together in local New Jersey music programs. Quickly realizing they shared amazing chemistry, and a common vision, this group of talented musicians began collaborating on writing original music. Ultimately, The Catching was formed in 2014.
The Catching recently released their first EP, "Teenage Fiction Part 1" for Ethos Records. Produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, 12 Stones) and recorded at Nashville's famed Blackbird Studios, their debut captures and layers a combination of band members' influences. Mills says, "It's refreshing to see a band work as hard as these guys do at their craft. Well beyond their teenage years, the music is fresh yet familiar, the lyrics meaningful. I see great things coming for these guys."
The album's music styles span Pop, Alternative, Rock, and other notable sounds, and includes teenage-anthem-like Pop/Rock songs such as "Ready Set Go," "Seventeen" and "Lighter," all of which will follow the path of their Pop contemporaries and in the hearts and on the sound systems of fans across the globe. Their video for the song "Lighter," directed by Marc Klasfeld (Twenty One Pilots, Katy Perry, RHCP, Jay-Z) is set to premiere in November/December 2016.
Already garnering praise in the press, MTV.com called The Catching one of the "9 Boy Bands that can fill the void of One Directon's Indefinite Hiatus". Kings of A&R cheered "I was hooked after the first listen" and Philly Mixtape raved "The Catching have found a way to cook up stunning vocals, ridiculously catchy guitar hooks and a heart-pounding, drum-driven sound, all while maintaining a thriving professionalism that is setting a solid pace for them to do some truly incredible work in the music industry."
The Catching can be found everywhere online and offline. They can be seen performing and participating LIVE on leading global social platform YouNow, where the band is regularly #1 on the "Global Broadcasters List" based on fan engagement. They currently wrapped up the High School Nation Tour, where they played in front of hundreds of thousands of teens across 26 US cities and have just been announced as a headlining musical guest on the nationwide DigiTour this winter.
4 piece Rock band from Ridgefield Park, New Jersey.
-Mikey O'Connor (Bass, 16)
-Joey Wamsley (Drums, 19)
-Josh Lang (Guitar, 20)
-Ryan Lamon (Guitar/Vocals, 19)
The band is made up of 2 cousins, Ryan Lamon and Mikey O'Connor, and two great friends, Josh Lang and Joey Wamsley. At the ages of just 10 and 7, Ryan and Mikey started playing guitar together. After years of jamming together- and both eventually learning the drums- they wanted to bring their love of music to a whole new level. Luckily, Ryan found Joey Wamsley. For about 3 years they did not have a singer and only jammed instrumentally- which is why they sound so tight in the rhythm section.
With the influences of STP, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Helmet, Alice in Chains, Sum41 and Incubus, the band really puts out a classic, in your face, type of sound. The vocals are raw, the guitar riffs are classic, and the drums are so naturally played with influences from Bonzo, Ward, and many other awesome jazz drummers.
Blue Lizard has been playing many gigs around New Jersey including spots like The Stone Pony, Mexicali Live, The Brooklyn Grill, Lido Bar, and many other street gigs and parties. We are looking to get our music way past local venues and start getting gigs out of state. Our music brings back a 70's meets 90's feel and we think it doesn't sound like any band before us, but takes so many influences from all of the greats.
Tickets will also be available at the door for $10 if space permits, however, advanced purchase is always recommended.
