WERC Presents: Smothered + Covered:
Hourglass, Xavier BLK, Indica, Source One
1123 Euclid Ave NE
Atlanta, GA, 30307
This event is 18 and over
Early in life, Charlotte, NC native Hourglass learned that aside from family and a few close friends, the staple in her life was her passion for music. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, Hourglass decided to utilize her business degree in a less conventional way than her peers.
In 2011, Hourglass founded a blog devoted to promoting new talent in music. Soon after, she became one of the editors and moderators of popular Hip Hop startup RapGenius.com and served as Music Editor for TheWellVersed.com. All of these jobs helped her discover her love for mixing music, and there’s been no looking back since her rst gig in 2012.
After working her way into the dj booths of Atlanta’s most notable venues without any major backing, Hourglass has found a family in WERC Crew, an event production collective of creative curators and in uencers. With WERC, Hourglass not only performs, but plans and executes each event with her partners from beginning to end. Currently, Hourglass is a resident DJ at Atlanta venues El Bar and Negril Village.
Most recently, Hourglass graced the Toyota DJ stage of the A3C Festival, performed at SXSW Festival along with One Music Fest, Afropunk’s Red Bull Sound Select, Milk & Cookies Fest, and Afropunk ATL: The Carnival of Consciousness. A concrete rose who has found her place in a community full of talent using her motto “Think Outside the Clock,” Hourglass’s style ranges from future beats and house to reggae, hip hop, top 40, and everything in between.
XAVIER BLK uses his eclectic New York and Caribbean roots to fire up dance floors. Since his move to Atlanta in 2010 he has served as a vanguard to new alternative, DIY nightlife landscape. Year after year he has organized high energy underground parties showing a consistent ability to build audiences in raw organic spaces. Xavier has developed a distinct sound that pairs familiar 808 bounce with uptempo bass, tribal beats, and R&B melodies.
His extensive experience has found him spinning or producing events for Afropunk, A3C, Jack Daniels, MTV, VH1, One Musicfest, Raurfest, The Recording Academy and the W Hotels. On stage he has been booked to open for and play alongside notables such as Questlove, Goldlink, Sango, Vic Mensa, Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae, Young Guru, 9th Wonder and many more. His unique mixing style was featured live during a set on Sirius XM’s, Sway in The Morning Show. Xavier also serves as co- founder of WERC, a leading Atlanta based events production and management company which was recently named Best Creative Party Planners by Atlanta’s leading Media outlet, Creative Loafing.
