Ron Jolly (piano and keyboards) - Ron is a Denver native who received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Denver where he studied with Gene Rush and Steve Lee. Ron has been a Denver Public Schools teacher since 1987, teaching Music and Audio Engineering. He has led the Citywide Jazz Combo for the last 30 years. Ron is one of the busiest pianists in the Denver area, performing with a number of local bands including What’s Cookin’, The Denver Jazz Orchestra, Lost Soul and Diamond Orchestra. He has performed with Moment’s Notice at corporate events and private parties since 1981. He has been a proud member of the eTones, the house band for the nationally broadcast eTown radio program, since 1993. Ron has performed with many well-known musicians and groups including James Taylor, Michael McDonald, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Tim & Mollie O’Brien, Sarah McLachlan, Joan Osborne, Rosanne Cash, David Sanford and The Pittsburgh Collective, Hugh Ragin, Dakota Staton, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Gatemouth Brown, Pete Olstadt and Eddie Harris. Ron just passed the 52nd anniversary of his first piano lesson.
Don Newby was born and grew up in Denver and began playing piano at age 5, drums at age 8 and has been performing professionally since he was 14. Don studied Music Education and Percussion Performance at CU Boulder Music School, Drum Set Performance at Berklee School of Music and Electronic Music and Recording Engineering at CU Denver. He's done thousands of performances in the last 45 years ranging from orchestras, symphonic and marching bands, shows and musicals, big bands and jazz combos to virtually all forms of rock, country and popular music, as well as hundreds of recording sessions.
Don has performed with the jazz big band Pandaemonium, Gretchen Peters, Tim Goodman, Dan McCorrison, Junior Brown, Luzure Blues, Gidget Baird and John Cable, Molly O'Brien and the Blue Tips, the Undercover All-Stars, Moment's Notice and many, many more. He currently gigs with the Groove Nation Orchestra, Kid Charlemagne, Voodoo Syndicate, Next of Kin, Ben There, Rumble Seat, Silent Auction and the Ron Jolly Trio among others. He's also worked at Denver based studio Rocky Mountain Recorders for 24 years as an engineer/drummer. Don specializes in production music and sound effects and manages the pre-production studio as well as overseeing the band's recording session back-up system.

The Triumphant Return to Dazzle - The Ron Jolly Trio features Ron Bland on bass and Don Newby on drums. They have played together in many situations for more than 35 years. In 2015 they released The Friend Suite on Tapestry Records. The Friend Suite CD release party was a sellout at Dazzle. Since then, the Ron Jolly Trio has appeared more than 60 times for concerts, parties, receptions and club work. The trio plays original music as well as standards, pop and jazz tunes. They are in demand for session work as well as for regular appearances in a variety of bands in Colorado and internationally.
