Cuentame Project Fundraiser

Cuentame Project Fundraiser

The mission of the Cuéntame Project is to provide a dynamic media driven platform to facilitate the sharing of stories of individuals with disabilities and their communities in hopes to help achieve a world where every person is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

The project began in the spring of 2016, originally as an idea from Ryan Roach, to understand the effects of economics, social, and political discrimination involving people living with disabilities in Latin America. Approaching his siblings with his thoughts and ideas, they constructed the Cuéntame Project, a platform to facilitate the stories of individuals living with disabilities. In July 2016, the Cuéntame Project began fundraising to cover production expenses of their documentary film, while reaching out to various non-government organizations (NGOs) to create partnerships. Arriving in Lima, Peru, in March 2017, they launched their Facebook and Instagram to open a direct path to the voices of those living with disabilities in Latin America. They are currently working with Hatunyaa Educación Montessorri and Asociacion de Personas con Discapacidad Luchando Contra Viento y Marea.

The Cuéntame Project has teamed up with Barbara Ventura Castillo, President of Asociacion de Personas con Discapacidad Luchando Contra Viento y Marea, to present the stories of individuals with disabilities and their families, specifically female advocates, who are fighting to create a more inclusive society for those with disabilities.
