Garage rock'n'roll band from Tokyo, Japan.
The Creepy Creeps
San Diego based Surf / Punk band, uses their Creepxotica alias for more 60s sounding exotica.
Surf rock and roll, with it's rich history and distinct rhythm and tonal qualities, might be the most uniquely Southern Californian contribution to the musical lexicon. Yet in it's place of birth, there seem to be few bands interested in taking the challenge of living up to the exciting sonic legacy of the genre's pioneers.
However, in recent years, the South Bay trio, Bombón, not only seem interested in picking up the torch of this tremendously influential musical style, they also appear bent on pushing it well past it's traditional boundaries. Founded in San Pedro in 2009, the three ladies behind the band, Angela Ramos, Paloma
Bañuelos, and Jerico Campbell, have been working hard ever since to deliver their gospel of old style surf rock blended with '60s garage rock and DIY punk rock attitude far and wide. The last five years have seen the girls release an EP on Burger Records and an LP on 45 RPM Records. In addition, they perform prolifically locally, and have toured nationally alongside highly regarded Alabama ghost country performers, The Pine Hill Haints.
The band has also been featured in Razorcake Magazine, where they were described as, "A band that works on vastly different levels, yet comes together in a completely harmonious way," and the LA Record, who said that they, "Ride the line between the charm of Beach Blanket Bingo and the soundtrack that might accompany Link Wray surfing on a coffin."
Looking toward the future, the girls have a 7" on Ghoulhouse Records, a cassette on Burger Records, and a new full length on Arkam Records in the works, as well as slot on the bill of Burger's hotly anticipated Burger-A-Go-Go Festival followed by a jaunt up the West Coast with old partners in crime, The Pine Hill Haints. To say that Bombón has big plans for the rest of the year is an understatement, these girls are plotting a take over. If you've yet to bear witness to glory of the lovely Las Chicas Del Bombón, don't worry, your future is filled with plenty of opportunities.
