Ian McFeron

Ian McFeron

A prolific songwriter whose lyrical prose has drawn comparisons to Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams and David Gray, Ian McFeron broke into the Seattle music scene after his self-produced debut album ìDonít Look Backî (2003) was discovered by ìThe Mountainî in Seattle (AAA-formatted KMTT at 103.7 FM). An independent and virtually unknown local artist at the time, McFeronís poetic lyrics and tightly composed songs inspired the media giant to put the albumís lead off single, ìLove Me Twice,î into rotation. Listeners responded strongly, and within months, McFeron and his newly formed band would share the spotlight with international and national artists such as Brandi Carlile, Patty Griffin, Mike Doughty, Nanci Griffith, Shawn Mullins, Amos Lee, Sister Hazel, Missy Higgins, and Hayes Carll.

A compulsive tunesmith and obsessive writer since childhood, McFeron has continued to release a steady stream of albums since his debut. His blues-rock sophomore release, ìA Long Way To Freedomî (2005), was soon followed by the rock-Americana record ìFistfight With Father Timeî (2006), and the rootsy-pop anthem ìLet It Rideî (2007). In 2009 he released his much-anticipated fifth full-length LP, ìLove Me Blue,î a narrative, melodic album chronicling his reflections on the trials of faith and unrequited love, delicately laced with the characteristic voice of hope that has created life-long fans out of his listeners.

Still a fully independent artist and self-functioning record label, McFeron has dedicated himself to building audiences the old fashioned way: on the road. Traveling the nation from city to city, state to state, McFeron is slated to perform more than 200 shows in 2010 alone, inspiring listeners with his beautifully crafted songs and honest narratives. On stage, McFeron (vocals, guitars, piano) is joined by Alisa Milner, a Texas-style fiddler, cellist, and harmony vocalist, and by the backbeat rhythms of Norman Baker (bass) and Mark Bateman (drums). Weaving together a variety of roots-American genres, threaded with contemporary rhythms and melodies, McFeron has created a unique form of singer-songwriter music that ranges from driving polyrhythmic rock to gospel-infused spirituals, from playful lyrical narratives to haunting, soulful ballads.
