Hidden Hospitals’ frequently dark, powerful music strikes a balance with hopeful and often profound lyrical content. Finding their stride in two fully produced EP releases, the Chicago rock band's sound continues to resist encapsulation. It is undeniably human; familiar at its core, modern and austere in its execution.
Produced and mixed by J. Hall, Surface Tension marks Hidden Hospitals’ first full-length album; a record that churns heavy with kinetic energy and precise movements. Carefully paced through 12 engaging tracks, a stable and familiar thread ties together the album as a whole. The band transitions seamlessly between sharp, taut guitar-rock reminiscent of Diamond Eyes era Deftones and an atmosphere of electronica evoking Radiohead’s Kid A. The band takes a minimalist approach to songwriting--the thoughtful process of reduction, leaving nothing but what's necessary. In this whitespace Hidden Hospitals gives us a glimpse of a persistent absence in today’s rock n’ roll. They let us hear what we’ve been missing.
The band has balanced these elements over three years of many national and regional tours providing direct support for The Used, Hot Rod Circuit, Cartel and Blindside among others along the way.
Red Hymns, formed in December of 2015, is a new rock band hailing from Northern New Jersey. Recommended for fans of Circa Survive and Deftones, their sound is heavy, melodic and raw. Delay infused guitar riffs, pounding drums, and thick bass grooves combined with the infectious sound of singer Jeremy Hernandez's soothing voice will have you singing along with each track.
Red Hymns has recently released their debut EP: Vol. 1, and completed tracking on Vol. 2, both recorded by John Naclerio at Nada Recording Studio in Montgomery, NY. Vol. 2 will be mixed by Beau Burchell of Saosin. These recordings are the first of four EP's that the band plans to release in the coming year.
El Americano is a quartet from Union, New Jersey that draws from the close musical chemistry and vast ranges of styles that blend together to create a synthesis of sound from math rock to jazz. El Americano consists of Salvador Montalvo (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar), Richard Nobrega Jr. (guitar, vocals), Joseph Giambusso (bass, vocals), and Michael Winnicki (drums, percussion), all of whom have had close ties since high school. The band was officially formed during the fall of 2014. El Americano synthesizes odd-metered time signatures, melodic guitar riffs and vocal lines, and introspective lyrics into one cohesive sound.
"El Americano is a technically adept group of musicians that mix math-rock, ambient post-punk, and experimental jazz grooves into a highly accessible formula."
