Marduk was formed in 1990 by Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson in order to form the "most blasphemous band in the world". Their musical style was that of a straight-forward death metal influenced take on black metal music, but as the years progressed their style and imagery became more of a fast and intense form of black metal. Marduk's predominant lyrical topics are Satanism, anti-Christianity, Biblical tales, death, Third Reich history and World War II. The latter two are a later addition to their lyrical/conceptual themes, stemming from their 1999 release Panzer Division Marduk. Marduk have recorded further songs relating to those chapters of human history, such as "The Hangman of Prague" (moniker of Reinhard Heydrich - second in command of the SS - in his capacity as the de facto Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia), "Night of the Long Knives," "Deathmarch" and others.
Without a doubt one of the most important bands ever to emerge in the world of extreme music, INCANTATION has set the standard for USDM and is often credited as a pioneer in the genre. For over two decades, INCANTATION has stood out as one of the most uncompromising forces in metal with their blasphemous and bone-crushing doom-tinged brand of death. Responsible for classics like Onward to Golgotha and Diabolical Conquest, INCANTATION's legacy speaks for itself.
Throughout their illustrious career, INCANTATION has become an infamous death metal institution and a pillar of the international underground metal scene. The staggering combination of the band's ominous sound, vicious style, incredible work ethic and unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark unmatched by all except the most legendary of their peers. Arguably metal's hardest working band, INCANTATION has ventured forth like conquering crusaders, converting thousands of new fans time after time. From Canada to Colombia, Argentina to Europe, Central America to Australia and the States, INCANTATION has endeavored to reach every corner of the world. Additionally, they have given such other prestigious acts as Nile, Decapitated, Krisiun, Enslaved, and Kataklsym their first opportunities to tour on U.S. soil.
The INCANTATION of today sees the band stronger than ever with a lineup comprised of founder/guitarist/vocalist John McEntee, longtime drummer Kyle Severn, guitarist Alex Bouks [Goreaphobia] and bassist Chuck Sherwood [Bloodstorm]. The combined efforts of all four members have resulted in an album that will undoubtedly go down as among the best in the band's history. Vanquish in Vengeance, INCANTATION's long-awaited follow up to 2006's Primordial Decimation, features over 50 minutes of the band's trademark dark and unholy death metal. Recorded at the infamous Mars Recording Compound with Engineer Bill Korecky and mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swano at Unisound studios, Vanquish in Vengeance deals with the numerous counts of genocide in the name of religion our society has witnessed over a millennia.
Sherwood elaborates on the album's lyrical content, "The concept of our world so enslaved by monotheistic dogma that only a rebirth, with nothing but distain for the previous, would be tolerated. The lyrical content is the vehicle of this ideology from modern to ancient history combined with the occult/pagan views and the rage we as a band hold for those religions and their followers who'd refuse to acknowledge their own failure. Let this vortex we offer permeate and enlighten or shun and obliterate."
While few artists leave an outstanding mark upon the music world, INCANTATION has built a legacy that will extend past their years. Their shadow has been cast forever over the genre, and we are eternally grateful.
ABYSMAL DAWN plays aggressive modern death that combines some of the best elements of both black and thrash metal. The band seamlessly blends the catchiness and technicality of early 90's American death, with ample doses of atmosphere, melody and the brutality of their contemporaries. Pain ridden death growls, complex drumming and soaring leads all help make From Ashes one of the strongest debuts within the extreme music genre in a long time! Hailing from Los Angeles CA, ABYSMAL DAWN was formed in late-2003 after Charles Elliotts (guitars/vocals) departure from the long running local blackened/death act Rise. Soon after, Elliott sought to start an entirely new project with his former Inhuman Visions band mate, Jamie Boulanger (guitars). The pair recruited Terry Barajas (drums) and frantically began writing material that would soon invoke mass hysteria throughout the metal community. The bands first three song demo was unleashed upon mankind in October of 2004. It garnered the band critical praise within the underground metal press circuit, as well as earning them some high profile gigs. 2005 saw the band playing alongside some of metals most elite acts such as Exodus, 3 Inches of Blood, Krisiun, Incantation, Hate Eternal, Into Eternity, Exhumed, Aborted, Disgorge, Impaled, Crisis and Decrepit Birth, to name a few. Metal audiences clamored to see the bands energetic stage shows, and demand for a proper recording soon became overwhelming. In November of 2005, ABYSAML DAWN entered Shiva Industries in Santa Ana to start work on their debut release entitled From Ashes. For the recording, the band enlisted the help of longtime friend and live bassist, Mike Bear (Ex-Prototype, Artisan) to fill in the bottom end. The result is nine songs that pay special attention to not only brutality, but song craft as well. Engineered by John Haddad (Eyes of Fire, Phobia) and graced with the stunning artwork of Par Olofsson (Deeds of Flesh, Psycroptic), From Ashes assaults your senses and tears at the very fabric of your soul. Make no mistake, ABYSMAL DAWN is soon to be a household name among the metal community. Surely a force to be reckoned with, ABYSMAL DAWN have risen From Ashes only to conquer us all.
We are Stonehaven, a band of four friends eager to change people's lives with our unique brand of heavy music. Keep on wood grain grippin'.
