EGPhest II - The E.G. Phillips Birthday/Cover Show - Private Parlor Show (($10 before/$15 day of show))

EGPhest

What is EGPhest?

It's a diverse ensemble of Bay Area singer/songwriters who will perform covers of songs by E.G. Phillips, while exhibiting their own unique voices and stylings.

E.G. Phillips and various artists include: Shawn Byron, The Complements, Chris Martelloti, Andy Mignano, Brendan Getzell, Bum Wagler, and Nina Jo Smith.

Plus additional performers will be added and the order is TBD, so get ready to let loose and flap your wings (quack! quack!).

E.G. Phillips

E.G. Phillips is a San Francisco based songwriter who creates songs with his own special blend of whimsy and poignancy. Focusing heavily on lyrics, his musical influences range from old school rock and folk to classic jazz. E.G. has been the "Songwriter-in-Residence" at Bazaar Cafe and released his first album "Fish from the Sky" in early 2017, a collection of well worn originals.

Shawn Byron

The Complements

The Complements are Greg & Alicia. Growing up on opposite ends of the Earth - Alicia in The Netherlands, Greg near LA - they are now based out of the Bay Area in California. Their first EP is due this summer!

Andy Mignano

International audiences have delighted for years in the infinite charm of Andy Mignano: a bewitching flash of tenderness behind his glance. His nimble fingers cast a spell with every riff complementing deeply poignant and often hilariously satirical lyrics. His works are musical storytelling at its most magical.

Brendan Getzell

Sound is pop/rock with touches of folk and other genres, very engaging, hook-laden stuff with thoughtful and sometimes-funny lyrics. I'm debuting a 5-piece band for my CD release to match my very big sound. Similar artists to my sound: Matt Nathanson, Ben Folds, Glen Hansard, Conor Oberst, Counting Crows.

Nina Jo Smith

Nina Jo stole her mom's guitar at about nine years of age and taught herself to play from records, the Joan Baez songbook, and the classic folk song book by John and and Alan Lomax. She kept this up for a good long while and started writing songs in her teens. Don’t worry, she eventually returned her Mom's guitar. Nina Jo took a long break from music while life intervened, but has been back at it for quite awhile now.

"I like a song that goes from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again.
My lyrics are mostly nonfiction because reality is so much stranger and more beautiful." -- Nina Jo
