Dennis Ellsworth & KINLEY
Dennis Ellsworth & Kinley Dowling recently released there new album "Everybody Needs to Chill Out". In April, the pair slipped away to Toronto to quietly record an album together with fellow part time Islander, Aaron Comeau. The result of that session is a 10 song album that represents where the two have been as musical partners and traces where they are heading. It’s a beauty!
Cassie Josephine and Gabriel Minnikin
Cassie Josephine and Gabriel Minnikin are an Indie/Old-Country/Singer-Songwriter duo from Halifax, NS. Their live performance can vary from a stripped down duo or trio (three-part harmonies are a defining feature of their music) to a full on rocking set with bass, three guitars (including Gabriel), pedal steel, fiddle, keys and drums. They released their first album together, Flower Country, on October 1, 2016.
Flower Country, is an album of gentle twang—soaring harmonies, poetic lyrics, and melodies that both haunt and toe tap. It was conceived as a split, featuring Cassie's songwriting on "Side A" and Gabriel's songwriting on "Side B" but with the two coming together as the front-couple to the Flower Country Band.
Cassie and Gabriel took their show to England in the spring of 2016 for a pre-release mini tour and did a home-town launch on December 10th in Halifax, NS.
Gabriel Minnikin was a founding member of acclaimed country outfit The Guthries and then a world travelling solo artist touring with the likes of First Aid Kit, Justin Townes Earle, The Handsome Family, Caitlin Rose, and his marvellous talent of a sister, Ruth Minnikin. Gabriel recorded his last solo album, Parakeets with Parasols, in Manchester, UK in 2012 and soon headed back to East Coast Canada where he met Cassie just releasing her debut EP, Cutlery ’N’ Cryin. Now, these two songwriters share the stage, their music and a little house in Halifax.
