Since 2008 Saving Abel has embodied the definition of "Southern Rock." Even before their "Self Titled" debut LP, they were barnstorming the country making fans everywhere they went, just by being themselves. Simple, down home, charming, country-boys with immeasurable talent that was destined to take them straight to the top. The band was signed by A&R wizard Jason Flom to Capitol records and their first single, "Addicted" did just that, reaching number one on several charts and the follow-up singles "18 Days" and "Drowning" helped sell over 750,000 copies of their debut album. They toured heavily in support of this album, playing with Buckcherry and Avenged Sevenfold, and later on Nickelback, in arenas across North America. Night after night, the boys would go back to the bus with their ears ringing from 15,000 fans screaming their lyrics.
As one of the most original and high-energy bands to recently emerge from the northern New Jersey area, Corevalay are quickly making a name for themselves. With a diverse mix of hard rock, metal, pop and hip-hop influences, the band offers something for everyone and is similar to artists like the Deftones, Staind, Alice in Chains, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace and Rage Against the Machine.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist Gerald Vitale, Corevalay has a unique story… After jamming and recording with drummer and Modern Drummer magazine editor Mike Dawson, Vitale decided to leave his comfort zone and expand his sound to new and more challenging styles. This led him to lead vocalist Phil Barbetta who was discovered in an online ad. After exchanging tracks and viewing several YouTube videos Barbetta was brought in to add attitude to Vitale’s vision.
Rising to the challenge of fronting a budding band was no problem for the vocalist whose adversity is an inspiration to all who witness his performance. Despite being confined to a wheelchair because of a condition calledArthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita(AMC), Barbetta’s stellar vocal chops are as impressive as anyone’s on the scene. His style complimented Vitale’s perfectly and enabled him to find the sound he was searching for.
Shortly after coming together Vitale and Barbetta set about to write their own original music. With additional help from guitarist Jason Tremper, they completed their first album This Beautiful Ride. Each song has a unique flavor and showcases the creativity and musicianship of its creators. When the decision to form a live band was made, Dawson became the obvious choice on drums. Bassist AJ was added to the lineup soon after to complete the ensemble.
When witnessing a Corevalay performance one distinct element is apparent, these musicians come to play. With a high-energy and infectious attitude that draws the crowd in, the musicianship of each member keeps them there. Night after night, show after show, Corevalay delivers.
Every member of Corevalay brings a unique, complimentary style that has been forged with many bands and prior performances. Each live show has generated a buzz around the scene that continues to resonate. With very little promotion and exposure Corevalay is gaining fans at a high rate. The word is spreading and they are just getting started.
From the studio to the stage, Corevalay continues to expand their sound and audience, proving that good music has no limitations. Just as the title of their debut album implies, this band is enjoying every minute of this beautiful ride.
