STAND UP WITH JERED

On Friday, July 27th, Relief in Abstract founders and close friends Jered Dowden and Lex Johnson were traveling back from Vans Warped Tour. Nearly 5 minutes from home, they were involved in a terrible car crash. Upon drifting slightly off the road, Jered turned the wheel back and the rear tires spun out, causing the two to shoot across the median and hit a car going in the other lane almost head on. The impact was towards the passenger's side, resulting in the engine being pushed onto Jered's legs.

Lex walked away from the accident with mostly cuts and bruises, but Jered sustained several serious injuries. He broke his femur, both of his tibas (one through the skin), his foot, and his hand. Our goal is to support Jered and his family by helping him pay for his medical bills. Costs include, surgery, rehabilitation, physical therapy, time spent in the hospital, medical equipment, car damage, etc. Any support that you can give to Jered and his family is greatly appreciated. Help Jered Dowden get back on his feet, to get back to the music industry and continue working alongside Relief In Abstract Records doing big things.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan began as the project of Orlando, Florida based multi-instrumentalist Chandler Strang, whose inspiration was culled from the passion and intensity of muses like Tears for Fears and Phil Collins. Strang began collaborating with several other Orlando based musicians to further develop the dreamy aesthetic of his initial solo material. After the release of several EPs, the now full-fledged band, who has toured with Gauntlet Hair, Mister Heavenly, Hundred Waters, and Levek, amongst others, will release their debut album entitled, Occasion, on April 30, 2013 via Father/Daughter Records.

Out Go The Lights

Out Go the Lights began life as the musical bedroom project of two life-long friends, Alex Clements and Allen Clark. Around grade 8, Alex picked up the guitar and began singing and around the same time Allen discovered a knack for rhythm he had developed while playing Rock Band video game drums on extreme difficulties. They began sending recordings to each other via the internet, to contribute and add onto, the only method of musical communication as Alex lived in Orlando and Allen lived in Ft. Myers 3+ hours away. Time went by, picking up electric guitars and drum sets, Alex began writing songs and getting together in person often with Allen to flesh them out, making them perform-able in a band setting. They released an EP called "Acceptance" in September 2010 and played as a two-piece for an entire year. They began writing songs for their next EP entitled "SUN". Along the way they met the missing pieces to their puzzle, an astute and well-versed bassist named Elliott Lane and a multi-talented, singing manager Sean Egan, to help them properly realize the more "sophisticated" direction the songs were headed, a message much different and too challenging to present accurately as a two-person group. Coming a very long way from their roots, "SUN" is a combination of everything they've learned and loved up to this point in their young lives. The basis of this new record is a blend of raw songwriting and pop sensibilities, supported by a shape-shifting rhythmic backbone of all styles, a myriad of additional instruments including brass, woodwinds, bells, whistles and strings, and a consistent underlying message of ambition and truth. Adversity is no matter and the music will speak for itself. It's here to prove you wrong and make you a believer.
