This event is 21 and over

The Moonbeams are a Los Angeles based band with members that orchestrate and demonstrate tremendous talent. Beck Black on vocals and keys, Nick Maybury on electric guitar, and Adam Alt on drums. The music is Rock N Roll at its roots, and futuristic in its approach "Cosmic Rock". As a trio, their sound is electric, electrifying, and enthralling. LA Weekly wrote of the Moonbeams and lead singer Beck Black "At times her moody blues evoke the Doors at their strangest, or perhaps a more gothic Nico, wrapped up in a web of eerily spidery harpsichord lines. At other times, the Moonbeams kick out the jams with a punk-rock intensity, pushing Black madly along as she reverses gender roles on an apocalyptic version of the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog," before switching back to the shadowy, simmering soul of febrile ballads like "On my Way".-Falling James 7/6/12. The Moonbeams made their first radio appearance 6/11/12 on "Indies in Motion" via Global Voice Radio, Performing live the song that brought the band together "On My Way" aka The Canyon song, with a powerful interview and introduced the single "Lovers in the Dark, Living in the Light", a song about a NYC bound train. One week later "Lovers in the Dark, Living in the Light" was featured on London's Hot 102.8 Fm radio. The band formed in November of 2011 and is rocketing to the moon and back with theatrical performances, story telling lyrics, and a stellar wave of sound that makes the Moonbeams shine and rock on uniquely.
Disclaimer
Okay, I'm just going to level with you here. I'm a musician and a terrible self-promoter to boot and this is probably going to turn out like a complete cluster-fuck if I try to get fancy and pretend some
journalist or something wrote this, so I'm just going to try to give
you the actual factuals on who and what BLACK HEART VACANCY is in my own words as best as I can. Hopefully all this horsefuckery will give you an idea of how this whole thing came to be.
Mucho Respecto,
Black Heart Vacancy
Back To Business
So who are we and where did we come from? That's basically what you're trying to get from all this, right?
First the vital stats; on Lead Vocals we have Mike Ryan, Guitar - Mike Ransom, Bass - Joey Moors, and Jeff Fabb plays drums. Black Heart Vacancy is geographically located in Los Angeles, California.
How did this shit happen?
The short version of how the band got together is that Mike Ryan and Mike Ransom actually met through mutual friends in 2005 and started hanging out and writing songs together without any intention of making a big deal out of it or starting a band or whatever. At some point they decided to stop screwing around and get to work and about 60 different songs came from those sessions which were recorded at several different locations (studios, practice rooms, apartments, cell phones) over the period of about a year.
At this point, we were writing some great shit together and found that we were into the same kinds of music and also had the same love for Los Angeles - all the different sounds and cultures out here and the way it influences the way we and other great LA bands make music - but something was still missing. That of course, was actually having a FUCKING BAND to rock with. For at least a year we went on SAFARI through Los Angeles to find a couple of dudes who know how to rock dirty music, and in my opinion we found two amazing specimens who rock the Hell out of their instruments. Those two gentlemen (I'm using that term VERY loosely) are Jeff (drums) and Joey (bass).
(Note: at this point, I'm aware that this is the *SORTA* SHORT version)
Mike Ryan + Mike Ransom + Jeff Fabb + Joey Moors = A Bad Ass Fucking Band
So that's the equation we came up with, finally. As soon as we got everyone together and rocking out in a shitty practice room we had no other choice than to get our asses into a studio and make a record, or just quit and sell our instruments and go back to school (no thanks). Even though we had absolutely no money at the time, we said fuck it and planned it anyway and somehow figured it all out and blasted through our first full-length record in less than two weeks. ¡MUCHO RESPECTO!
What's next?
Our MASTER PLAN: Play everywhere and anywhere and blow the fuckin doors off the place. I wish we could come up with something more elaborate and sinister but any more thought than that takes way too much effort.
