With 16 years of touring and recording under his belt, Mishka has seen many aspects of the music industry. From London to Hollywood, he has been on both major and independent labels, and his songs have been featured on sound tracks in films and t.v. all over the globe. CJ Reid is a creative and unique singer songwriter in Atlanta Georgia. Like a gifted chef, she blends many flavors of music ranging from folk, soul, world to jazz. Her brassy yet bold voice speaks the truth of the voiceless. Her lyrical content prolifically hits you in the face and heart. Her guitar riffs add a certain warmth and color giving forth high vibration, hope, inspiration and healing for all generations.
She was born in Taiwan, but she considers herself a Native Atlantan. Because she was a military child of the seventies, her exposure to various genres of music helped shape her musical journey. She was the co-founder of the band Cozmyk Embryo, a “soul alternative” band that captured the attention of the underground music scene in Atlanta. She has performed in various venues in Atlanta such as Eddie's Attic, The Apache Cafe, The Five Spot, and Gallery 72. She has graciously performed at several festivals including Music In the Park Atlanta, the Bob Marley Festival, and The Organic Festival.
Her music can be found on reverbnation. She is currently recording her highly anticipated album that is being produced with Atlanta's Gem, Khari Cabral Simmons, who has added his musical genius to various artists such as Julie Dexter, Heston, Donnie, and India Arie.
Although she has a vast taste in music, her influences have been more on a local level. “I know that many artists are influenced by pop icons, but I was influenced and inspired by my local heroes like Zafar, Pino Artee McKoy, Paige Lackey Martin, Ryan Wilson, Dashill Smith, Mausiki Scales, Khari Simmons, Julie Dexter, Joi, Doria Roberts, Dorothy Bell-Polk, Ingrid Sibley, Jill Rock Jones, Donnie, and Dionne Farris. These artists have given me the inspiration to create my own voice.” CJ Reid is a timeless vessel bringing humanity and humor to all in the form of “musical therapy” . . . one song at a time!
