The Roseline

The Roseline

Over the course of ten years, five albums, and a myriad collaborators, Colin Halliburton and his musical moniker The Roseline has quietly amassed an impressive catalogue of songs and a few fans along the way. Beginning as a three-piece, all acoustic band in the summer of 2005, the Lawrence, KS alt-country stalwarts have morphed into a six-piece Americana force that is equally capable of arena-ready rockers, as it is a soft country shuffle. Their distinctly Midwestern sound owes its debts to The Jayhawks, Whiskeytown, Gram Parsons, Neko Case, Calexico, and Conor Oberst, while at the same time remaining completely autonomous.

Today they return with their fifth full length album, titled Blood. Recorded almost entirely in the basement studio of the Lawrence Public Library, Blood is undoubtedly their most accomplished and complete work. Lyrically, Halliburton explores the nuances of a long term committed relationship, the struggle to age gracefully, and the existential dread inherent in the pursuit of a creatively fulfilling life. In addition to Halliburton singing and playing acoustic guitar, the band consists of Ehren Starks on keys, Jeff Jackson on stand-up bass, electric guitar, electric baritone guitar, and pedal steel, Jim Piller on drums, and Kris Losure on electric guitar. It also features a few gorgeous contributions from Heidi Gluck on backup vocals, Vera Valentine on fiddle, and Leslie Butsch on saxophone.

Blood will be released on August 25th, 2017 via King Forward Records.
