The Shivers

The Shivers

The Shivers are troubadours of rock and roll from Queens, New York featuring Keith Zarriello on guitar and vocals and Wade Ryff (ex Races) on bass, Darla Hawn (ex Tree Ring) on drums. Rehearsing out of a church in Flushing, their music exists in intimate spaces, speaking to the lonely heart and providing a reflective surface to the unforgiving streets of New York City. Primary songwriter and native New Yorker, Keith Zarriello started releasing music under the name The Shivers in 2001 and pens songs that could narrate a bar fight, only to later belt the ballad of the drunk at sunrise. In 2004, Zarriello released the album "Charades" featuring the song "Beauty", bringing the band to the attention of the music media.

Over the last decade the band has amassed a growing cult following including the likes of Aaron Paul, Daniel Radcliffe, Rose McIver, Tessa Thompson and bands like Deer Tick and Foster the People. The band is currently mixing its most recent album recorded in a warehouse in Downtown LA across the hall from John Cale.

Amongst others, The Shivers have shared bills with:
Patti Smith, Deer Tick , M. Ward, Architecture in Helsinki, Xiu Xiu, Foster The People and Thao Nguyen & the Get Down Stay Down.

Brice Randall Bickford

In the '00s, Durham-based singer-songwriter Brice Randall Bickford was known for recording and performing his own country-inflected narrative pop songs as The Strugglers. Under that moniker, Bickford released four LPs – including two on the Madrid-based label Acuarela – and toured Europe and the U.S.

Bickford's latest album, Paro, contains nods to the art rock of the 1980's (David Sylvian, Roxy Music, Talk Talk). However, music fans will also recognize the familiar sonic touchstones of Fleetwood Mac, late 70s AM radio, and enigmatic 90s singer-songwriters.

Paro is the latest product of a fruitful creative partnership between Bickford and producer Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Spoon, Superchunk). Previously, the two worked together on Bickford's eponymous 2011 LP. Paro also features collaborations with arranger/keyboardist Alex Lazara (The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers) and Ash Bowie (Polvo).
